Tips to keep car runnin cooler in summer time?

When my car was running hot I had to do some work on the cooling system. Don't know if you want to do all this but here's what I have and it works very well. Griffin 31 x 19 radiator Taurus electric fan 3G alternator upgrade and wiring upgrade to handle the power for the fan DC Controller to...

Did I screw up? 331 stroker....flywheel and starter don't like each other

Make sure you get a heavy duty high torque starter - I have a 331 and my stock starter wasn't up to the task - it could start it cold, but when I tried to hot start it, the old stock starter couldn't turn the engine over from heat sink. Had to wait until it cooled down and then it would start...

It should be fine - just keep running it until the white smoke stops - it will stop eventually one way or another!

brain fart after 3 yrs 3grand car runs but white smoke idles high!! please help

Was there coolant in the oil at some point - that seems to be what you had indicated since you drained and refilled it a couple of times. Also did you hook up a coolant line (from the EGR spacer) to one of the vacuum lines on the intake by mistake so you were now dumping coolant down the intake...

Been pondering a Cobra, suprised at values

Here's a low mileage terminator. I was looking at these about a year or two ago and they were in the low 20s at that time. Fast enough car, but cheap plastic interior...

    engine rebuild

X2 on doing it yourself. It's a fun experience - maybe find someone close by that can check your work over as you go.

What do you think of this gauge mounting?

Nice job on the install, however I probably wouldn't have put them so down low - but each to his own. I like having the gauges where they are easier to see - I have a 2 gauge A pillar pod and the gauge pod that mounts up on the dash with the large tach and 2 smaller gauges. Not very stealth however!

Best wet traction tires for Fox?

I like my Nitto drag radials, but they probably don't fit your #1 criteria. My problem was getting some grip on dry pavement - the car puts down 350 to the wheels and any hard compound would spin like crazy. The nittos solved that problem and a plus was they work great in the rain. You still...

    electric fan??

I have a Taurus fan off a 3.8l for sale if you want one.- tested and guaranteed to work - price is $60 shipped. I have a Taurus fan on my 331 stroker - cools it like a champ - I have a 3G alt and use the DC Controller setup as well...

    Installing Gears-Press question

How do you set it up to pull the bearing? The press comes with a C shaped device that you screw each side in under the bearing. With the pinion bearing then you can push the pinion straight down with the press and the bearing slides off. With the carrier I think you can get the C shaped...

    stroker tune

FWIW, I wouldn't bother taking it to a dyno to have a chip burned - tried that and pretty much just flushed a few hundred bucks down the toilet. If I were you I'd either look at getting a PMS or a Tweecer (although given your comment about needing the O2s or not, the PMS might be a better...

    Installing Gears-Press question

Good luck using a press to get your carrier bearings off - if you are just planning on doing the pinion bearing, then I guess that's not a problem. If you do plan on replacing the carrier bearings, you may have to use a grinder to cut them off. Use the grinder to cut the cage and them remove it...

    Subframe Connector question

Don't even need to go to a body shop - any exhaust shop will be able to weld them in for you - and they will have a lift for sure - the SFCs should be welded on with the suspension bearing the cars weight - so you want to have the car on a drive on lift, not a two post lift where they lift it at...

    Rear Axle Bearings shot?

You won't really know what the problem is until you start to pull it apart - it may be the axle bearings, but it could be the pinion bearing or the carrier bearings. I starting getting a funky noise from my rear end (coulda been the beans I suppose - but I digress) - I was sure it was the axle...

I really can't stand the magazines anymore!

Did anyone see the article in the latest issue of 5.0 for a CAI for an S197 that doesn't require a tune to get it to work? I think the thing cost five or six hundred!! Up in the right hand corner they have this teeny little graph that you can't read a thing on, and then claim that it made some...
