    explorer accessories

Same here...The Explorer, at least the one I got 99 & 01 both use a small pump with external reservoir which is mounted up higher. Alternator runs $130 new IIRC...I thought about running explorer accessories, but I already have the 5.0 stuff...havent decided yet...

    oil choice

Diesel oil AKA Rotella (per squeak93) is very good break in oil. IIRC, one of the major cam manf. reccomends using it...

    302 cam

You can run HO or non-HO by changing the order of the spark plug wires... But that Summit cam is for a flat tappet, not roller...

    Comp Thumper camshaft

Thumpers have some high duration to get the lope IIRC. They're not too bad on lift though... .540's IIRC.

burnout contest need to find wheels and tires

Agreed, find a good 14-incher. You'll spin it up quicker than crap. You'd be looking for small LTD's, Zephyrs, Mustangs, Capris, 83-88 t-bird's, etc.

    5.0 and 2.3 T5 compatibilty parts

Shifter - Yes Clutch cable - No, unless you're running an adjustable cable for both... Pedal Assembly - Yes Reverse harness - Yes. The only real difference between the two is the input shaft, bell housing, and gear ratios. Everything else is the same.

    Mark VII spindles...

Anybody running the Mark VII front spindles? I'm planning on putting them on my Capri to capture larger brakes and 5-lug. I'm also going to run SVO rims...Just curious what people have done as far as lower control arms...

    Edelbrock heads?

I wouldn't worry about it unless you're running a huge cam. And over the past 30,000 miles the aluminum would have compressed any that it was going to with your given springs and cam.

    #5 header pipe cold

Well it means you don't have a cylinder firing. What the cause is is anybodys guess. Did you put twisted wedge heads on?

    Rear Suspension

As long as their a solid design, they should be good to go. The big issue with CA's is the durometer of the bushings. Soft bushings create wheel hop and hard bushings tear up torque boxes...Hit and miss. Most people go with adjustables or other name brand stuff just because 50,000 different...

Dome, Flat Top, or Dish with Twisted Wedge

Your piston choice is basically your comp. ratio choice. If you want to run pump gas with the option of power adder later I wouldn't run much greater than 9:1 or 9.5:1. If you think you'll run N/A for quite some time, 10:1 or 10.5:1 makes nice power on pump gas.

A LATE 81 HACK JOB UPDATE

Are you going to paint the door jam around the upper half of the door black to the trim all blends in? I wondered why it looked weird an then I remembered that from the factory that area was blacked out...at least on my '93... Otherwise looking good.

North Race Cars brackets seem like BS....HELP

Your rear brakes don't really see an amazing amount of loading either. If it was for front brakes, there is no way I would be shimming out brackets with multiple washers, but on the rear...ehh...It'll be fine. That is kind of messed up that they're not designed to be on center without...

    Best O.E. 5.0 swap heads, headers & x pipe ????

GT-40P's are the best bang for the buck as far as stock bolt on. They flow better than the D00E Windsor heads and offer a slightly higher compression ratio due to chamber size. I would suggest running a matching header and h/x-pipe combo to avoid fitment issues. I believe the set I have is...
