    There's nothing wrong with washing a block. I would suggest hand and air drying it immediately afterwards. Then just coat it in some light oil to keep rust away.

    I personally think for a quick and easy budget upgrade you're on the right track. You could pick up GT-40P's, explorer intake, and even an aftermarket cam for less than $500. You would throw an extra $500-$750 if you go aluminuim.

    If it's just super light rust, don't worry about it. Hit it just enough to get the rough stuff off and stick it in. I wouldn't hit it with a polishing compound of any sort, only a clean rag.

    I could be wrong, but I think a standard Mustang driveshaft will fit. Check with summit, jegs, etc. or Ford Motorsport.

    Get under your dash and release the self adjuster, adjust your cable at the fork to where you want the nut at and then give your clutch pedal a hit or two. It will click into place.

    You would need axles, and caliper brackets. Your calipers and rotors should fit the same, just different brackets. Let me know if you go that route. I'd be willing to take/buy the axles & brackets from the Lincoln rear.

    For a track only car - Spherical all around. On a budget? Uppers first. If you think about it, that's where your big pulling forces around going to come from. As the wheels rotate forward, the axle wants to rotate up/back. Your lower boxes won't see near as much stress as the uppers.

    Yes, crossmembers have two rubber bushings per side. Do they wear out before the car does? Generally not. Not for sure on the differences on the crossmember. It's nice to just bolt things in rather than having to change them around to fit though.
