    gas leak / long cranking

It takes a long cranking to start the v8 if it has been parked for a long time (over 1-2 weeks). The fuel falls all the way to the gas tank. Is it typical for mustangs/carbed engines? Do I have to look for a leak or another solution (e.g. pump with manual prime - do you know of any?)

    Front Coil Springs Install Help

heat springs?:nono: you can make such internal compressor easily at home. all you need is some 2ft m16 (or silmilarly thick) threaded rod, with somehow fixed plate at the lower end that you attach to the lower spring perch.

    bad turn signal switch

OE turn switch tends to break that it won't hold the lever, but it shouldn't cause the turn lights stop working. If that happens most likely your emergency switch has fallen apart. Because if it is in off position it supplies current to your turn lights. It has very flimsy contacts inside...

    alternator and low charge

I have already bought rebuild 3g motorcraft for 60 US off ebay. Rockauto sells the same one for 110+50 core charge (RA one of cheapest autoparts stores). The ebay guy swore there are no compromises on the quality and they are just cheaper. Not sure what GM you mean. try to walk in to the...

    alternator and low charge

Thank you for advice; I had just too many accesories and fried the alternator, not realizing it is designed for so low current at cruising rpm. I am going with the 3g. I is true that 3g with 7" eye-to-eye distance, same as 1g, won't fit the classic (1967) and I need 3g with 8.25" distance? I...

    alternator and low charge

I took 55A 1G Motorcraft to a repair shop because it makes only 13.5V charge at no load, and drops to 12.5V or so at load (all lights, gauges = 13A + el.fan =10A+charging system), and eventually (40 miles ride) discharges the battery. They tested diodes and said alternator should work. I am...

will stock radiator cap cause overheat/boilover issues?

you are not saying what electric fan you have, at least diameter and how many amps it takes. make sure correct rotation is set. I would go with 16 psi cap too. How do you measure engine temp? OE gauge, afternarket mechanical/electrical)?

    Radiator with electric fan best?

those lincoln fans are way too noisy when running at full speed. they pull over 40 amps too. some of them lack low speed because fan speed is controlled by ECU.

Do these compression test results seem low to you?

I get same figures on somewhat warm 302 with similar specs - 218/228 .471 lift cam, ported d2 heads, 650 cfm holley and 9.2:1 CR. There is a noticeable power drop between 1600 - 2500 rpm + engine is louder This makes it hard to keep up with modern cars.

    Headliner Installations Stink!

use a yellowish glue based on polychloridebutadien, just apply it, wait 5-10 minutes, put the headliner on and it sticks immediately (if 3M glue works like you are saying)

    low vacuum + runs rich

I believe the valves are fully closing (the gauge's needle does not bounce), holley is 650 cfm, t5, stock 2.79 gears, PCV valve does not change vacuum levels. I even advanced cam timing by 3° hoping to get some more vacuum, but it is pretty much the same as it was before. The problem is...

    low vacuum + runs rich

My 302 makes only 14 inches of vacuum (when warm, 10 when cold) while wideband shows 12.5-13 AFR. I am sure there isn't any vacuum leak, and the engine does not react to propane or starting spray. It has mild 218/228 .471" lift cam, holley DP, its power valve is not leaking. The engine runs...

Still not sure how did you attach the cable to the pedal through your angle iron bracket. Why did not you use quadrant at the pedal?

    T-5 input shaft swap

I paid for 87 WC $200 (a guy blew the 3rd synchro) in DC area where everything is expensive. Later found 98 t5 and yard wanted $120. If I recall correctly the shaft can be easily cut+machined.

What do you think of this 302 build?

IMO that cam needs higher CR to get its full potential, you may now have 8:1 or so? Speed pro hyp. pistons are no good, compare them to probe forged you will see the difference.

My first time welding and patching...

IMO you woud not have to be pretty good welder to use 100% CO2 as opposed to CO2+argonne mix. There is much more spatter and weaker weld with fluxcore compared to CO2+0.6mm solid wire. Even now I have the 1lb wheel fluxcore that came with my 230v lincoln, found it totally unusable. Argonne...
