What did you do to your classic Mustang today?

Breaking in the new motor, cruised in the mountains for about 75 miles. I installed the courtacy lights. I finally ripped out the yellow spark plug wires and replaced with hipo 289 style wires.

    Looking for a reputable shop

When I was in college at TCU, I used MidCities Mustang. They helped me when I was rear ended by a cop. They fixed a bunch of extra stuff and were very nice.

    tranny

I love my T-5. I dont get to use 5th much up here on these mountain passes. Best thing is no linkage rattling because there is no linkage.

    '66 Mustang Suspension Rebuild Recs.

I agree that the most effective change cost $0. Do the Shelby drop. I used drop springs with a taller insulator on top. I dont see how roller perches will do anything. Get some tie rod ends and ball joints from anywhere and a 1" sway bar. You will love it. Your steering box is the same...

    67 comments suggestions advice

Looking good. I think you got the cooling mastered. I see all the front end work. Did you do the Shelby 1" drop? Thats always my first suggestion. It makes a huge difference driving and cost nothing.

What did you do to your classic Mustang today?

I put in a new temp sending unit, now all my guages work again. Took it for a 30 mile drive. I still dont have 100 miles on this engine build. Im so happy to be behind the wheel after 4 years. I dont have the headers on yet but it still sounds mean. Trying to find the timing advance that...

    CJ Pony - backorder

Ive had a couple backorders in orders but Ive ordered a LOT of stuff. Just give them a call. They are very nice and helpful. They told me when to expect my item and seemed concerned if it would be a problem. It was about 1 week after receiving the other parts. I have waited a couple weeks I...

Does this mean big engine trouble

I like to start with the easy things. Check the PCV on the right Valve cover. Turn it upside down and the bead should fall open. Pull a spark plug and post a pic. Do you ever see liquid in the tail pipe? It could be condensation or a gasket. If you have white steam coming out the...

1965 Mustang Tranny Swap to 5 Speed Question?

I have a 92 T-5 in my 66 vert. I used original bell and clutch linkage. I dont like the cable running all over the engine compartment. I also have Tri-Y headers which interferes with the cable. I learned the hard way that hipo 289 had the large flywheel so dont get that clutch. I have a...

    Oil pump primer

I have a primer. How long should I spin the pump? I dont want to rinse off all the moly lube. I have new everything. I hope to start it today. I just have to put on the bell and slide in the tranny.

It runs, but it over heats. No rear coolant crossover in intake the problem?

You are correct. And the little hole goes to the top. I think your clue is that you rad. was cool and engine hot. You can test your thermostat by putting it in a pan of water on the stove. You will see it open. Its easy to get a faulty new thermostat. Like previous poster stated, do you...

Clutch fan, new shroud, doesn't fit!

Thank you for that link. I read the last part about the convertible mounts. It states "One common misconception is that convertibles had the engine mounted at a different height than coupes. This is a result of force-fitting the incorrect mounts. The convertible mounts were intended to provide...

Clutch fan, new shroud, doesn't fit!

If you cut on your fan, you will likely unbalance it and kill your waterpump. There are 17" clutch fans, one is on my car. I always debate on getting an electric fan. Why does you engine sit low? You may try Vert. mounts which are a little taller.

    What is this?

If your buddy can shut his hood with the aircleaner, its a 200. This weekend I pulled a 250 out of a 1966. Due to the taller block it does not fit with the aircleaner. The 250 has the starter down below beside the oil pan. The 200 has the starter up high next to the block. You can put a 250...

What do you guys think? 66 I6 w/ v8 suspension

Looks like a good deal. Its got a GT or Deluxe steering wheel. Floors look great as do shocktowers. I cant tell whats going on with the rear and the "8.8" It takes a bit of work to get an 8.8 properly under a 65-66. You have a great head start to put a V8 in it. Good thing about converting...
