Need advice on purchase: 66 Mustang

Body has no dents Yeah but how much bondo? fresh paint 3 years ago, has some minor chips same as above floor pans were replaced by the previous owner, but this current owner says that they weren't installed "well". Whatever that means. They are probably warped, not straight and welds need to...

New Engine is IN & RUNNING

Looks great. I like how you painted your intake. Are the valve covers blue as well? I like it. I hope to make a similar post as soon as I get a new bellhousing on.

    289 engine

The block is the same if it was 2V or 4V. That refers to the Carb and not the actual valves. You can pop off a vavle cover to see if it is hipo but you would know that already. Everybody thinks they have a hipo but you would know because the price would be about $7000 more. The compression...

Need advice on purchase: 66 Mustang

Keep in mind that there are a LOT of 302 engines. Some good and some better. That price was not a good deal but not a scam either. When buying an old Mustang, look at the floor pans and the cowl area for rust. There will be some. Make sure the frame rails do not have rust holes. Brakes...

oil pressure drops after warm up

Im no expert, but it sounds like you need main bearings. I have heard horror stories about high flow oil pumps. Hopefullly we will get some posts from others with more experience.

    RTV needed?

Just use a Fel-Pro gasket and some RTV on both sides. You dont need too much. Also put a little dab on your bolt threads. Dont overtighten. Snug it down, let the RTV set up and then retighten. Of course make sure the thermostat is in the correct direction with the spring on the engine side...

    Convertible Top Frame Parts

Oh, I understand. I will still keep an eye out for that. I do see those parts sometimes.

    5 Lug Conversion

When I did a V8 conversion, my I6 spindle broke in less than 12 hours. Lucky I was right in front of my house going about 5mph. I have never seen so many sparks as my car slid across the pavement. The I6 spindle is much weaker. Your question. The easiest is to get some spindles off a 70s...

    Convertible Top Frame Parts

That is the chrome header I assume. It sucks but that is not being reproduced. It is not easy to find. I will keep my eyes out.

    66 mustang fastback glass-roof

You are a very talented artist. You make me want to break out my charcoal. I like the 3rd front best. I like the large vents in #2 like a Lambo. The lower air intake in #3 looks great. I think the front spoinler could be a little more agressive. The updated front looks a little pointed...

    Straight 6 Power Upgrades

We just spent a weekend pulling a 250 out of my buddies 1966 coupe. The 250 is crap. Mostly its because the 200 makes more power and the 250 is so tall that you cannot use an aircleaner. We will take the big Weber carb off the 250 and junk the rest. We used the Clifford headers with dual...

cylinder heads for daily driver - kinda long -sorry

I have a very similar engine. I am very happy with the 289 heads. I have a bit more agressive cam and Tri-Y headers. I would have the 289 heads worked on and spend the extra $1000 on something else. BTW did you put 302 internals in a 289 block? If so you should be careful as the piston...

Hello everyone from sunny Colorado. I have a 1966 Mustang that I have owned since 1993. I have plenty experience on how not to do things.

    Starting my T-5 swap, finally.

Im using my stock iron flywheel and a spec clutch. If you run on the track, they require a billit steel flywheel. They have to have SFI certification if you run under 13 sec. or something like that :)

    Smoothed Cowl

That is one good looking car. I love the smooth cowl. What do you plan to do with the vents between the grill and headlights?

Late Model Master Cylinder in 65

I just did that last weekend. If your setup is not power assisted, get a MC with 15/17 bore. The 1" bore requires more effort to stop. I am using a drum/drum MC from a mid 70s Pinto. The adapters for the brake lines were about $2.00 from NAPA. Disconnect the rear brake line from the...
