    whistling tb,cai, mass air

the whistling is because of the sharp edges in the IAC ports. you can smooth them out and get rid of most, if not all of the whistling.

189k on mine and i abuse it regularly. doesn't "use" any oil but it does have a tiny little drip worth about 1/2 quart in between oil changes. no smoke ever and still good compression. FTW, mobil 1 :D

    EFI to Carb trade off

he's probably getting abit more out of it than you, but in the long run he'll have a bunch more headaches:D . my suggestion: take the carb setup and try to get some cash from him too, but if you're unsuccessful, no big deal, you'll still have the better setup

Just installed pcv valve, cant get the engine to idle

to set idle you adjust the idle adjustment screw under the throttlebody. messing with timing is a nono without a timing light...buy one, they're simple to use. you'll want an inductive timing light

check timing, Check for Codes, remove your IAC and clean it out with carb cleaner. backfiring through intake is usually is from running lean.

4 eyed no option car - to option car

i know its your car and you should do what you want with it...but it seems almost sacrilege to add power windows to a no-option car. get ready to replace window motors regularly. you will likely have to swap the whole door...theres alot of window gear in there. what color is your car? i'll swap...

    Sorry another timing question

what??? ummm, its advancing timing...because your advancing the ignition event. meaning, the ignition event happens sooner...not later. its happening before top dead center, not during or after.

    Sorry another timing question

    1. supposed to be 10*...can vary and is often as low as 6-8* 2. turn the distributor clockwise to advance...should be able to get it around 12-16* Before TDC 3. yes you need to pull the spout connector. 4. depending on how much timing you add, yes. advance it 2 degrees at a time...

what size gear for 89 LX

you shouldn't be getting beat by 05s...get the exhaust leak fixed and some sticky tires. fix the tranny also, and a thorough tune-up wouldn't hurt either. are you sure everything is working ok? have you Checked for Codes?

    vacuum question

one of the two in the front is unused (usually loops back to another vac port under the intake). the other one is for the charcoal canister. there is no difference between a MAP and a BP sensor, except for how you hook them up...you did it right.
