    '92 LX Notch ideas

I've been a V8 nut for years, hated 4cyl's. My V8 truck was using $60 bucks in gas a week just to get to and from work so I bought a 2.3l 85 Mustang for the hell of it. I did a 2.3t swap and since then all the money I was getting ready to dump into my v8 car went into the 2.3T. I totally lost...

    Nut size question

I just had to replace mine. 18mm on the nut side and I think 14mm or 15mm on the bolt side. This is how my 85 Mustang was.

    turbo help

Easiest route..... You will need to get the schematic for your car. Not sure if the 83 had a dummy computer or not, if it does yank it and the harness going from it to the engine bay. Find a 87 to 90 4cyl EEC harness and use that. Schematics for the 87 to 90 Mustang can be found all over the...

No start on the swap... really strange problem.

I have schematics on my web site. Flemworld Look under 85 Info and then Schematics. It's for a 85 but the 86's were pretty much the same. Mike

    Suggested Price for Cam

I've been watching them on Ebay and they usually go for $100.00 to $140.00. I was quoted $200.00 for the cam alone at a machine shop. I have heard the same thing that they really never go bad.

help me with this 2.3L question

I just did the same swap you are inqiring about. My car is a 85 but the entire electrical system is from an 89 Mustang. I have a complete parts list on my site you can look over. It's specific to the 89 Mustang and and 88 TC as the donor. Flemworld Click on the Slugstang Section and then...

    shifting problems

Asked my Boss about this he said in 1992 the T5 was upgraded with a slinger to sling oil up to the shift shaft and pocket bearing. Pre 92 T5's don't have this unless it was upgraded with one during a rebuild. This is supposedly why the rails and shifter forks get worn out. Lubbing it will...

    Misfire(s), bad... car

Just a thought but maybe a failing or clogged injector that can't keep up with the fuel demand needed for the boost. Maybe a loose connection to the injector.....

    shifting problems

I work part time in a tranny shop in the evenings so I called my boss who is much more knowledgeable than I and explained your problem. He does not think it's that bushing although if it's worn it should be replaced as this can cause mis-shifts and a sloppy shifter feel. This is what he said...

    shifting problems

The pilot bearing is at the snout of the trans. If it goes bad they squeal or make a grinding sound. I have never heard of them cause the trans not to shift unless it has totally worn out he snout retainer. Or the saft has seized in the crank shaft itself. It would not sieze, unsieze, seize...

    shifting problems

Pilot bearing.... WTF....I doubt it's the pilot bearing, the bushing or the quadrant although a quadrant is a good idea. I think if it was clutch related it would grind trying to go into gear but you stated there was no grinding, that it just wouldn't move. This leads me to believe it's a...

This is not directly related to Turbo or 2.3L engines but here is a link to a write up I did for replacing the stock gauges in a 79 to 86 Mustang with Autometer gauges. 79-86 Gauge Upgrade

    shifting problems

Ensure you have enough fluid in the trans. If it's low it may cause the shaft inside to bind. I have also seen this happen when the shaft is worn out.

Here is my 2.3T swap page. It covers 87 to 90 Mustangs using an 88 Turbo Coupe as the donor. I have the usual wiring diagrams but also created a vacuum diagram for those that can’t figure out what goes where. I started a pin out diagram with color codes but that’s not quite done yet. It should...

    Change ATF fluid?

If the fluid is real black in color and/or smells burnt I would not change it at all. I work in a transmission shop and we have done service on tons of cars with nasty, smelly black fluid and the result is usually slipping shortly after. If it looks clean and transparent red in color you...

    trunklid lock

First check all the fuses Next step would be to power the solenoid in the truck to ensure it's not dead. Then check the wire going from the switch in the glove box to the solenoid in the trunk to ensure there not an open circut. Mike

    help on wiring PLEASE!!!!

I assume you are going to Turbo it correct?.... You aren't giving us very much info.... If so you need the main ECC computer only from the TC. Go to Stingers or Crovax web sites and look at their wiring diagrams. The ECC harness in these Fords can be used as standalone units so basically all you...
