Engine Rear Main Seal: Sleeve or no sleeve

Zombie thread! It appears you can't get the Fel-Pro installation tool anymore. How hard do you thing it's going to be to put the sleeve on without the tool? I have the small plastic mallet to tap it into place, but it's going to be a slog I think.

Picked up a Valeo kit that is supposed to be the OG King Cobra. Which is what was in there.

This sounds relevant to my interests. Seems lik a way better solution than just putting a new seal in and hoping for the best.

At the advice from a buddy I hit it with a random orbit sander and some 400 grit. There's zero lip now. Still some hot spot burns in one spot, but I'm feeling better about it.

Absolutely no clue. Engine came out of a donor 91. I haven't considered that.

Blocking plate will be here this week. There wasn't one at all. Along with a new rear main, and bolt/dowel kit for the pressure plate. If I can get away with using the flywheel, that'd be great. Time to run to home depot and get some degreaser and a tray to put under the engine so I can get it...

There is a SLIGHT tactile ridge on the flywheel. I might try cleaning it and see if it's just corrosion or actual wear. This clutch only has about 15k on it. The friction surface isn't bad at all, but the rest is a hot mess.

Yeah. Gonna need a new flywheel. And pilot bearing. And apparently the rear main was leaking. Just not enough to keep the rust off the clutch. So. Hooray! I hate money.

No chance. More of a salt water issue than an ecological disaster.

The shifter bolts were finger tight. So that's cool.

As salt water does. Fortunately, it actually looks like all my oil leaks are from the valve covers. The flywheel and back of the pan look dry. So maybe not a rear main?

The goal is to do one thing every night. Tomorrow I'm going to disconnect the clutch cable pull all the connectors and speedo cable from the trans and support the tailshaft so I can remove the crossmember.

Got the driveshaft out. Found two things. I think the Ford Racing aluminum shaft is like an inch too long. It took a shoehorn to get it out and the trailing boot on the transmission output seal was destroyed. That said, it wasn't leaking. So either a different output seal or have a shop take an...
