    cam and trans?

A word of caution on the gforce T5. I had one built and got a terrible vibration out of it because the gearset was defective. The builder told me that I was not the first to have this problem. You need a bigger carb. 750 at least unless you are going to stay VERY mild with the cam. Note...

    Give Me Traction !

There are not any high performance tires made for a 14" wheels. BFG Radial T/As and the like are mediocre at best. You are going to have to step up to a larger wheel to get decent tires. Even in the 15" size choices are very limited unless you are willing to go to drag radials which are lousy...

    Leaky drum rear brakes

When pulling the seal be very careful not to gouge the seal seating surface. Otherwise the oil will leak out through the gouge. Get a seal puller (found at auto parts store, very cheap) to get it out.

    Steering and Suspension

What you describe is downright scary and you need to find the cause right away. Loose U-bolts in the rear? Bad steering parts? Bad suspension parts (strut rods)? Loose front wheel bearings? As for traction - Caltracs are the absolute best traction device there is. No welding required and...

    RV CAM??? NEED SOME INFO

Every combo is different. Until you run the engine as is there is no way to determine if that cam is appropriate for your build or not. If you blindly throw a cam in there then you might makes things worse.

Drive shaft weld and balance costs

Under no circumstances should you use a 40-year-old flywheel. Ever seen the damage when one comes apart? Spring the money and get a new one.

    Hauling a vehicle

Doesn't really matter. Just place the vehicle so that you have about 100-200 pounds on the hitch. Note that this rig is going to be heavy. You absolutely cannot make any drastic turns or it will jackknife. If it is raining and slippery then slow down.

    Free Flowing Quiet Mufflers??

Research I did indicated that Dynomax Super Turbos were the quietest of the turbo mufflers. I have a 462 cubic inch FE motor with 428CJ exhaust manifolds feeding a 2.5" exhaust system with these mufflers. It is very quiet at idle with just a slight rumble and never has any resonance as you rev...

cylinder heads for daily driver - kinda long -sorry

That is way, way too much cam for a motor that is staying south of 4000 rpm and has 2.76 gears behind it. Way too much. Way. I have a 347 with a 3.89 rear and T5 with a 2.95 first gear. Originally it had a 240/249 cam (108 LSA) which did not smooth out until 2500 rpm and had zero low end...

    Starting Line Ratio .... Help

It all boils down to whether you have an OD tranny or not. In my 67 GT350 I have a 347 with a T5. 3.89 rear gears with a 2.95 first gear = 11.48. People will tell you that is WAY too much effective first gear but for urban driving (Houston) it is great. The .62 5th gear offsets the 3.89...

    need ideas for motor combo

IMO this is simple. 408W stroker motor. Moderate cam with slight lope that pulls to 6500 rpm. You do NOT want a 3500-7500 rpm motor with 3.25 rear gears. In fact with a TKO and its overdrive you really don't want 3.25 gears anyway - something more like 3.75. Personally I don't see the...

Crud in the carb. It will sometimes pass on through and it will run fine after that.

I suspect you don't have a plug wire installed properly or you damaged one while replacing them. Get one of the old wires and substitute it one at a time for your new wires.

    Best Dash Speaker

Reality that the sound quality is not going to differ very much no matter which speaker you choose. No bass at all and any highs will be soaked up by the dash. It is a lousy location for sound quality.

    Anyone running FEs?

You are going to be into that car for BIG dollars. If it was me I would shop around for about six months and find some restomod that already fits the bill. Usually they sell for about 60 cents on the dollar so you can get a $50K car for $30K.

    Starter Question

There are two starters made - a long nose and a short nose. Pull the starter and look at the flywheel. Is it right next to the block plate or set back about 1/2" inch? If set back you need the long nose. The short nose has the gear set almost all the way into the housing. The long nose some...

351c cam selection flat or roller? please look

I just noticed your desired compression ratio. Open chamber heads are VERY prone to detonation whereas the close chambered heads are not. Unless you run a LOT of cam to bleed off compression you are going to get detonation with 10.5 and open chambers.

    Anyone running FEs?

Everything is different when installing an FE motor. You don't have to remove the shock towers but they do get in the way especially if running headers. You will also have to run a beefed up 9" rear with at least 31 spline axles and some kind of traction control devices on the rear. MY 462...
