Need a new clutch soon...should I go King Cobra or Spec Stage I?

It comes from an inside joke between myself and a friend of mine who had a totally restored `66 Mustang. When a car was modified to be fast, he used to say "it's got extries" a.k.a. "extras" a.k.a. performance mods. So I put a spinoff of the "Got Milk?" slogan in my sig--I figured it would be...

Need a new clutch soon...should I go King Cobra or Spec Stage I?

Thanks for the advice. I was leaning toward the SPEC clutch anyway, and when you said it has a lighter pedal feel you helped me make my decision. I'd much rather have a lighter pedal than one that will make my left leg twice as muscular as my right. ;) Two questions, though. If I just get...

Need a new clutch soon...should I go King Cobra or Spec Stage I?

I don't want a Centerforce DF. :) I've heard a lot of good things, but enough bad things to keep me from buying one.

Well, time for a new clutch

Yep, Spec makes an aluminum one but they are around $300. Not sure who else makes one. I don't know how much you'd realistically gain from a lightweight flywheel--does anyone know? I'm just going to go with a steel flywheel because a heavier flywheel helps keep the revs up between...

Well, time for a new clutch

Right. Less powerful clutches tend to be more streetable and better suited for daily drivers. Plus (and this was already mentioned above) if you get a clutch that's TOO strong and pair it with a weak tranny, disaster can result. There was a guy in the 5.0 forums that installed a Spec Stage...

Need a new clutch soon...should I go King Cobra or Spec Stage I?

I haven't noticed any slippage but it's letting out pretty close to the top of the pedal travel. I'll have the car running with the AFR's on Monday so it's probably time to replace the stocker anyway. I was thinking of either the King Cobra or a Spec Stage I. Not really sure which one to get...

Bullitt suspension back order pushed back another month!!!!

How much was the kit from Summit? www.mustangparts.com is selling the Bullitt kits for $399 and I think they are in stock.

    vent... I've almost had enough

Right, you can usually be OK without a tune if you keep your foot out of it...but it's going to be damn tempting to mash that go-pedal the first time an 03 Cobra or Z06 pulls up next to him.

Pics of My Paxton, Post your Power Adder.

What's the deal here? If you don't have a running car you don't need to be posting, much less a freakin' mod. I think you need to relinquish your mod privileges until you get the car up and going. Why don't you just turn them over to me?

    vent... I've almost had enough

:nonono: Dude, if you don't have the means to have your car tuned then you should not put a turbo kit on your car...simple as that. There's way too much at stake to just install the stuff and "hope" you'll be fine. I wouldn't even run 2psi until I had a dyno tune, much less 10. If you...

    vent... I've almost had enough

I'd have gone with the KB. I mean, it would be AWESOME to tell people I had a turbocharged Mustang GT, but turbos are too much trouble for my liking (complete turbo kits excluded) and the KB is a proven blower.

    A rare occassion....I think

Funny you should mention that; I just had to retighten the bolts in my Pro5.0's handle the other day! That sucker was getting so loose I thought it was going to come off during a shift, LOL.

    Best Springs

There was a similar thread a while back and a ton of people recommended H&R so that's what I got. If Maximum Motorsports sells them, you know they're a good product. A lot of people like the Steeda Sports, the FMS C springs, and Eibachs as well.

    A rare occassion....I think

Good gawd...that bolt shouldn't be in there that tight! I've always been able to loosen mine via an allen key. It just might be loc-tited in there. Rest assured that Pro5.0 did NOT do that from the factory, LOL!

Opinions of a good cam for my combo

That is just not true. If you get a cam with a 114 LSA or higher, your computer will accept the new cam with little/no issues. If you plan on staying N/A I would go with a Comp Cams XE270HR or a Crower 15511. If you think you might add nitrous then go with the NX264HR. If you think you might...

    head swap questions

Probably. With heads and and intake you'll be creeping up toward 300 HP which is around the limit of 19# injectors. You might be able to get by with just the heads and intake by using 19#ers and bumping the fuel pressure, but I wouldn't add any more mods on top of it as you'll be stressing...

    head swap questions

I believe all Trick Flow heads are stud mount now...I think they stopped making pedestal mount heads a while back. You'll also need gaskets, injectors, MAF (or TwEECer) for the new injectors, hardened pushrods, and possibly new valve covers that will clear the stud mount rocker arms...some...

    2 Alum. D/S left!!!!

It's true, LOL all you have to do is look on a few sites to see that they've gone up. A few places still list the old price of $160-$170, but most of those are out of stock. It's getting hard to find a new one for less than $220-$250. :notnice:

    2 Alum. D/S left!!!!

Dude, there is no excuse for not being able to install a driveshaft. I've been told it's a 10 minute install if that, and that it takes longer to jack the car up and get it on jackstands than it does to actually install the DS. I work full time and go to school full time, and even if I didn't...

X2CMotorsports... Im not too happy right now!!!

The handling charge is the only real bad thing I have found with Summit. They claim to give you "free" shipping but then stick you with a handling fee of $8.95 WTF? I've always been willing to look past that though, because I couldn't ask for quicker shipping or better service. I still...
