Anyone have problems with Fel-Pro Head Gaskets

I like their stock replacements the best. 8548-pt2 or 9333-pt1. Never had one go.

    Autofab rear coilovers????

They are a good setup and yes they're adjustable for ride height. You can also adjust the rebound/compression. If you look at the pic on their site you can't see the threads on the shock but you can see the spin collar. The body of the QA-1s are threaded.

    which rear lower control arms??

For a car that sees alot of street time you'll want to stick with poly bushings at least on one end of the control arm. Adjustables are nice because you can set your pinion angle properly. These would be perfect for you: Unlimited Performance Racing Products On-Line - Chrome Moly Adj. Lower...

    Building 8.8 Rear End

As far a bearings you'll need pinion and carrier bearings. You'll also need a new crush sleeve, pinion seal, and pinion and carrier shims. I'm getting ready to do one for a guy and he picked up a nice kit on 50 resto that comes with FMS gears and the intall kit included. And don't forget gear...

    popping through intake.... sorry...

Jeez don't be so hard on yourself. It takes time to get the bugs out of this stuff. You want a Felpro 1250 probably for the GT40 X heads. Go for the 1250-S, they have a steel core and hold up alot better. At least you found the source of the popping. Massive vacuum leak / lean condition. Good...

t-5 or TKO face plate/proshift or not

It depends on the rpms you're turning. I have a Liberty Pro-shifted TKO in my stang. The faceplated units do hold up alot better on the street. The standard pro-shift will deteriorate with use due to burrs on the the inside of the sliders and the Pro-rings. (been there, done that) A pro-shifted...

    popping through intake.... sorry...

I've never had a popping from a rich mixture. Symptoms for that are sluggish, black smoke from exhaust. Pull a plug see what they look like. Sounds like timing to me. Also double check your firing order.

    popping through intake.... sorry...

When you say you tried the timing at all positions does that mean you didn't time it with a light? You may be a tooth off on the distributor. Timing for you should be around 14 degrees with the spout removed.

    Rebuilding my AOD...

You need snap ring pliars and basic hand tools. If you have those, the only thing you should really need to buy are the seal installers. They are 100.00 for the installer kits. Can't install seals in the drums without them.

    popping through intake.... sorry...

What do you have the timing and fuel pressure set at? Popping is usually either timing or if lean they'll pop when you try to accelerate.

    Clutch problems

There are a lot of good firewall adjusters out there. Nothing wrong with the Steeda, I've had one for years. UPR makes a nice one too.

    New 347 on it's way!

I agree. It's all in how high you're willing to spin it. 450 to the wheels with a streetable solid roller is definately achievable.

    Moroso pan wont fit!!

I had issues installing a Moroso pan on mine because of the Lakewood bell housing. The Moroso pan is flush with the back of the engine and the lakewood has the bolts all around the bottom for the block plate. Had to shave the heads on all those bolts down to get it to fit. No room at all. The...

Can I use my stock Lifters - 347 build

Been there, done that. Unless they changed them over the years, I used the rhoads lifters in a motor I built for my truck back in the late 90s. Needless to say, it wasn't long and I was pulling the intake to put stock lifters in it. They worked good at first and then for some reason went to...

Need help wiring electric water pump!

I have mine wired with a Moroso thermostatic switch and a toggle override. The problem with this is I have to cycle it on and off while the engine is warming up because the water close to the cylinders is hot and the water in the intake at the switch is cold. The only way that setup would work...

HELP, cant get distributor / oil pump shaft to line up

You don't need to take the shroud off. While you're holding the dizzy have someone bump the starter while you have a little pressure on it till it drops in. You can also get it with a ratchet and just the right sized extension on the crank bolt.

HELP, cant get distributor / oil pump shaft to line up

The EFI type do that especially. The EFI dizzy shaft is a little longer and isn't flush with the block like a non-efi dizzy so the clip won't stay up snug no matter what you do. When you drop the dizzy in and turn the engine over by hand it should engage the pump driveshaft eventually. If you...

    BLEW REAR YESTERDAY....how to rebuild

You may not need to do anything. Depends on the car. I'm just telling you if your in the 10s, you may want to think about having the axle tubes welded up where they go into the diff housing. Some say you should have them welded in a jig so they can't warp, some just weld them up.

How do I fix TB Whistle...

Mine was a very unpleasant whistle. Mine sounded EXACTLY like this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=50jX4_D8OpA Wait for the high pitched part.

How do I fix TB Whistle...

I fixed mine. It wasn't the throttle body causing it. It was a vacuum leak between the upper and lower intake. Sprayed carb cleaner around and it picked up like crazy so I pulled it apart and resealed it and now it's quiet as a mouse.
