    Clutch Adjustment Question

It's good to have it release high as long as it doesn't slip. Most high performance clutches I've ever installed release high which is much better for powershifting than a low releasing clutch. With a firewall adjuster, you want the thickness of a dime if you lean over the fender and pull on the...

    MSD distributor

Use the grease to center the shaft. I usually use the white assembly lube because it'll disolve. Set the distributor in and then you need to turn the engine over by hand with a ratchet on the balancer till it drops in the rest of the way. What's happening is the hex on the shaft isn't aligning...

    Transmission Question

Yes, Astro uses the G-force kits and then builds the transmissions. G-force will also build or just sell parts to build. Tony at Astro is good to deal with and backs his work from what I've seen. He'll also do Tremec mods. At least he used to.

    Boxing Upper Control Arms

Definately. Torque boxes should be first before you do anything deviating from stock. It's alot easier to reinforce them then have to try to tweak them back into position to repair. The sphericals won't flex which naturally makes them harder on the torque boxes but they will stop the binding...

    Boxing Upper Control Arms

Here's another option for you guys. They work great curing binding and you don't get the flex of rubber. They are a little pricy though in comparison. You would run a good poly bushing on the torque box side. http://www.uprproducts.com/shopping/shopexd.asp?id=117

    Transmission Question

A good friend of mine who ran Pure Street blew about 3 pro-shifted TKOs (3rd gear - took out entire trans) till he got the G-force. The G-force lasted him a season and half with no problems. You'll hear ups and downs about both I just don't think the TKOs are any tougher. It's kind of a matter...

    Transmission Question

Exactly, that was my point. They're pretty much equal in what they're going to take power wise. I'd take the G-force because they'll take as much as a Tremec yet you knock off some pounds compared to the Tremec.

    Transmission Question

Do you know of a Tremec that'll take 100,000 miles behind a 550 rwhp car? Anyone building a combo like that should be realistic enough to know it is not going to be a trouble free 100,000 mile daily driver. I know alot of people who have ran the G-force T-5s in Pro-shifted form who have less...

    Transmission Question

The Astro T-5 is a G-force T-5 built by Astro. They're every bit as tough as a Tremec 3550.

    Transmission Question

Rebuild it with a G-Force Kit. They'll handle about as much power as a Tremec TKO.

    Ok...What broke?? (clutch)

Check the routing of the cable also. I've seen them misrouted which will cause a stiff pedal.

    Carb leaking out secondary shaft

That is something you'll have to fix then. Whenever mine leaks it's only very slight. Can't even see a drip. Definately bushings probably.

    Carb leaking out secondary shaft

If it's just seeping a little bit, let it go. My holley started seeping almost right away when new. Replaced the bushings and it wasn't long before it started again.

    Tremec 3550 Stuck in 3rd

My Tremec has done this to me about 3 times now although mine's usually 2nd gear. It's a pretty easy fix. I can unstick mine through the fill plug with a screwdriver. The shift lugs get out of alignment and then it locks. You gotta get in there and push it forward to align with the others. If...

    Painting my own car questions

Good advice here. Go with a good primer. I use PPG DP90LF (epoxy) for bare metal and DZ-7 for a surfacer/filler primer. I picked up a Devillbiss Finishline gun also. Works really well. Like Paul said, block sanding will give you a better job and for someone that's never painted before, guide...

WHERE CAN I TAKE WEIGHT OFF OF CAR

If it's a caged car with door bars you can cut the side-impact braces out of the doors. I can't remember exactly but I'm thinking they were about 20 lbs each. Cannot stress enough, cage cars only.

    MSD 6AL - Rough, Backfiring rev limiter/2-step

Just wondered if any of you guys can tell me why this thing is so rough. It works great till it hits the rev limiter. I can't even use the 2-step because it pops and backfires so bad (even flames out the exhaust sometimes). I've tried a new 2-step and it still does it. I've had 2 different 6al...

    Oil pump shaft/dizzy prob.

You can take the washer off but then you'll be taking a chance every time you pull the distributor that the shaft will fall in the pan. Is the engine already in the car?

    Water coming from valve covers?

Head studs usually though are an external leak. Never had one make a "yoohoo" in the pan. (like that term 93GTosu). I'm betting intake leak or head gasket.

Can I run 7/16 stud rockers on 3/8 studs?

Get the 7/16" studs and swap out the 3/8"s. You're better off with the 7/16"s anyway. Less flex on the studs and it's an easy swap.
