How many here are using crane 1.7 rockers with the stock valve covers?

I am using Crane 1.7 rollers on all mine with stock valve covers - just used the metal/rubber gasket on one car with stock cam without even bothering the oil baffle and the other I had to take the baffle out using e303 cam and make my own baffle out of some thin sheet metal - works great

Random Power Loss at Highway Speeds

sounds like the HALL EFFECT inside the distributor is going bad - mine did that - I replaced the ignition module on the side of the dizzy but it did not cure it until I replaced the WHOLE dizzy from Autozone - get the STEEL drive gear for roller engines

loose rocker arms cause a sputter?

MAF was cleaned and changed with another one from my other car, plugs, wires, cap, rotor, distributer, ignition module & coil have all been changed. I have also adjusted timing up and down - same thing happens. I use 93 octane and have been since the engine was rebuilt 25k miles ago. There has...

loose rocker arms cause a sputter?

Will loose 1.7 Crane roller rockers cause a random missing while driving at 1500rpm or so with light pedal pressure just keeping up with traffic? I have cleared ALL codes and re-checked that they were gone for good, changed coil, maf, distributer, ignition module, cap, rotor, plugs, wires, O2's...

    5.0 almost running..few questions though

you are right - the salt and pepper shakers (10 pin connectors) cause tons of problems - make sure they are clean and tight

    1970 rear glass installation

yes - you have to tuck the side triangle parts under the rubber lip - you can do that after the rear glass is installed - you will appreciate the extra room while installing the glass and you will not tear or crack the board on the triangles.

is this normal? (just checking to see how stupid i am)

pans will flex - I am 200lbs and they always have on every one over the past 20+ years of working on them - if they support you and have no holes just clean them up, coat them with POR15 or something like that and re-seal...

    5.0 almost running..few questions though

Oh - if you got it turning over now and it is almost running - those distributors on the 5.0's have a bolt on ignition module that almost always give you trouble - I have a few spares laying around and keep an extra in the car since they go bad so often. Use dielectric grease when installing it...

    5.0 almost running..few questions though

I have a 5.0FI in my 1970 - I had to use the 1993 solenoid to make it all work right - There is a difference in the smaller "mini" starters used in 1992 and 1993 vs. the larger starters used in 1991 and older 5.0's -- you have to run the wires just right or the starter will turn over but seem to...

    Printed circuit repair

I have seen a paint in JC Whitney catalog that is for fixing heated rear window elements - simply clean and paint it on where the breaks occur -- then you can take duct tape and sandwich the separated plastic circuit panel around the edges with the tape since nobody sees it anyway.

    1970 rear glass installation

You CAN install the headliner later BUT it is best to have the glass out and tuck the headliner around the lip - I have done it both ways. I always wait until after the glass is in to install the triangular pieces until the interior is almost finished - that way I have room to work while...

    Single Stage Paint

As said earlier - White is easiest - I actually PREFER single stage acrylic enamel over base/clear and it is easy to fix and burn in scrapes and chips -- Red will fade easier with single stage -- as well as any other color in single stage for that matter -- and single stage will get dull without...

    **** maaco!!!!!!!

I am afraid you are out of luck - MAACO is an economy paint and body shop --- when you pay $500 (or anything less than $1500) for a paint job that is what you get - they will simply scuff, feather large chips if you are lucky, degrease, tape, mix & shoot paint, remove masking, do a basic clean...

Why am I running out of breath at 4-5000rpm

Mine was a dirty fuel filter - I had the original tank in the car and ran fuel cleaner in it and it started taking out the old gunk in the tank - it would clog up a fuel filter in a few hundred miles - I kept changing the filter until it did not clog any more - I used clear plastic filters to...

    alignment woes

I had not thought of wheel bearings - I like that E-bay brace from Laurel Moutain - I still wonder if the "bar" export brace part will let the towers flex and twist - the "flat" style with waves built in them like the one piece Shelby unit seem to be the best idea to avoid the twist... I will be...

    alignment woes

I am doing the export brace now too - I just recieved a "U" shaped black one from my favorite vendor but it will have to be modified to fit around the upper intake plenum for the fuel injected 5.0 I think - that will take a while.

    THEY'RE STILL OUT THERE---GRANADA'S WITH 9" REARS

I actually bought a Monarch 2 dr 302 loaded model years ago that had the 9" 2.47 POSI with DISC brakes for $100 - it was in driving condition but had been wrecked. I have also bought several Versailles over the years with the discs -- I will probably not do any more of that since there are so...

    alignment woes

Thanks guys - the monte carlo bar is homemade - it was fabbed while the engine was out of the car - same as the export braces - homemade too. All of the suspension was rebuilt or replaced including the upper control arms, ball joints, upper control arm shafts (90* grease fittings installed)...
