Loud Pop
Random pops and pings happen all the time. The key is knowing which ones are bad and which ones are not. Sometimes a loud noise is just a rock hitting the underside of the car. Running lean
get an adjustable fuel pressure regulator and bump the fuel pressure to 45lbs from 39. this usually gains a modified car a few HP and can sure slightly lean issues. worst comes to worst run an EGT to see if the cas is actually lean or if it is just a bad code.- Pstatic

All an octane rating is on gasoline is the fuels resistance to detonation. I use octane booster at the track on my supercharged car only as another layer of detonation protection.
