    Fuel System Questions (efi Conversion)

So now that Im beginning to run the fuel system, Ive come to a point where Im in unfamiliar territory. The fuel system will, obviously, be a complete scratch build. I bought a new stock replacement wagon sending unit since the old one was trashed anyway, external high pressure pump, and a large...

    Questions on 351w build

Windsor Jr/Sr heads were great when they came out 25 years ago or whenever, but compared to a TFS or AFR, they suck. I wouldn't waste my time with them especially with their relocated spark plugs. If all you're trying to do is get into the hi to mid 12s, no need to get a monster cylinder head...

Explorer 5.0 into 65, carb, man, etc. suggestions

You could stick in a stock H.O. cam since it has a little more duration along with a set of roller rockers, but if you plan on ever racing youll definitely need to replace the springs. Stock Explorer springs are barely enough for an Explorer. Any headers will work since you say you have the...

    CHEAP 302 Doner Car?

I would pass on the crown vic. They have terrible heads, lousy intakes, smaller cams than the H.O., not to mention a different firing order if you wanted to keep/sell the fuel injection harness. There are very few parts that have good resale value on a crown vic. Go for either a fox mustang...

steer me in the right direction (engines)

I forgot to mention the guy in question is using a 68 Mexican block, not just a regular block, so it should handle 1300 horse no problem... Anyway, the block prep I was referring to is 2 thick braces welded across the lifter valley, which from my understanding is where stock blocks are most...

steer me in the right direction (engines)

I dont know that I would be so quick to dismiss a stock block. I work with a guy that is building a 331 and putting a 101mm turbo on it. He plans to make in the neighborhood of 1300 hp, so you should be ok at 500 with a bit of the right prep work. Granted hes done a lot of work to the block...

cylinder heads for daily driver - kinda long -sorry

Ooohhh, you didnt mention the shorty headers. I sort of assumed you had stock manifolds. Not real sure what to tell you there. Ive heard of people using shorty spark plugs and 90* plug wires, but I think you would need to just try it and see if it works or not.

cylinder heads for daily driver - kinda long -sorry

Thats a bit of a contradiction in my opinion... I still think the gt40P heads are the best bet. Small chambers, small ports, small valves, cheap, readily available, yet flow much better than E7s.

cylinder heads for daily driver - kinda long -sorry

The Edelbrock E-street (or whatever theyre called) would be fine since as far as I know theyre just performer heads with cheaper valve springs. However, even those might be a bit overkill for your intentions. What kind of exhaust do you have- stock manifolds or headers? If you have stock...

    picked up a v8 exploder for $500

Do some research and see how many people are running that Explorer cam in the stock classes. Pretty sure that number will be zero. Ive read there are slight variations in the H.O. cams over the years, but I seem to remember the 86 (speed density) cams were the best. It wouldnt be hard to...

65 Mustang 17 inch wheel question

I could be wrong, but I think this is more of a personal preference question than what will fit. I have a 65 Comet that I want to put 17s on, and from what Ive seen and read a 235 on 8" rim will just fit. The 235/7" may give you some more breathing room in front, but I would say if both fit, go...

I meant to list these here first, but I got carried away and listed them on ebay. Nice matched set of very early (4L11) 289 heads. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=140404570505&ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT

    EFI harness options

Wouldnt the computer need to know the trans is in gear or not so it can adjust idle speed? Other than that, the trans operates entirely on its own like any other non-electronic trans.

    EFI harness options

I was in the junkyard looking at a Mark 7 and assessing how much of a PITA it was going to be to pull the harness, when an old acquaintance texted saying he had just pulled his Mustang harness in the process of converting to a 408 turbo with a blowthru carb. The car had a 5 spd in it, but I...

    Suspension porblem has me stumped....

If you put the suspect springs in your other car and it sits level, wouldnt that kind of rule out the springs as being the culprit? Or am I just being obtuse?
