    EFI conversion questions

Im sure Ill be updating this post with a flurry of questions regarding my swap at some point, but for now just one question. Is the wiring harness and computer the same between a Mark 7 and Mustang of the same year (1990)? If so, what do I need? Im thinking basically locate the computer and...

What timing chain do I need?

Seems Ive answered my own question already. The difference is in the fuel pump eccentric. I ordered a new one and its on its way. Now I can finish my project. Woo-hoo!

What timing chain do I need?

I wiped out a flat tappet cam in my 302 a while back, probably due to improper break in and low/no zinc oil, and decided to use a stock H.O. cam with retrofit roller lifters. The timing chain had a lot more play in it that I would have expected with only a few thousand miles on it, so I want to...

    GT40 valvetrain question

I went with this one: Trick Flow Specialties TFS-2500100 - Trick Flow® Valve Spring Upgrade Kits - Overview - SummitRacing.com Its so cheap, Id be dumb to go any other way.

    GT40 valvetrain question

I already dropped the heads off to have them machined for the TFS kit. They said the Ford Racing springs are on galaxy wide backorder because the springs were made by Crane, which is dead and gone and never to return. Nobody makes a direct fit spring for that head that they or I could find.

    GT40 valvetrain question

dbfarr, did you have to machine the guides to use the TFS kit? I have looked at every valve spring set I can find, and none have the correct inside diameter to use without machining. The TFS kit looks pretty nice, so I may have to just bite the bullet and have the heads machined to use that...

    Electric Garage Heater

This would make a great heater for a 2 car garage. Made by Q-Mark, runs on 208v, single or 3 phase. I dont know a whole lot about it, but specs can be found here: Qmark Type MUH Unit Heater then scroll down to catalog# "MUH078". This is not a cheap heater. Its a few years old, but has very...

    What color to paint intake?

Well it looks like Ive sort of had my mind made up for me. I took it to be blasted, and the guy asked if I wanted it painted. After showing me what it will look like, I agreed to it. Its a dull aluminum, matte finish. I dont really like glossy shiny bright "bling aluminum" on an intake, and...

    05 3v 4.6L conversion

Also be aware the early 3v engines used a smaller than normal spark plug. This shouldnt be an issue for a stock or near stock engine, but if you plan on boost or something, spark plug availability is an issue. Also, the gap is effectively not adjustable.

    Need some EFI recommendations

I picked up some 24# injectors, but Im not sure if theyre interchangable or not. Both are blue top from 32 valve 4.6s, but they have different part numbers. One is F55E-A2E, the other F2LE-B2A. I did a quick search and found a few references of people using the F55Es, but almost nothing on...

    What color to paint intake?

Hmm... All good points. Now that you mention it, I can see the wrinkle finish being a pain to clean. I just picked up another gt40 intake last night, so now I can paint one black, one silver, and if I dont like either I can just blast it and start over. Also for what its worth, I *think* the...

    What color to paint intake?

What color, original silver/similar? I have to respectfully reject the vote for painting it blue. I found a picture of one partly painted body color which was sort of blue-green and it didnt look too good, to me at least. So far only 2 people have actually cast a vote, both for black wrinkle.

    What color to paint intake?

Ill be putting a gt40/explorer intake on my car in the near future, and since the original paint is beginning to peel and has turned a dull grey, I was just going to repaint it the original bright aluminum color. Until, that is, I thought about the valve covers Ill most likely use. Id like to...

    GT40 valvetrain question

Pre-roller block (mid 70s I think), KB hypereutectic pistons with valve reliefs like the H.O. pistons. I plan to use the stock H.O. cam with link-bar lifters and 1.7 roller rockers. I had a bigger flat tappet cam in it, but wiped it out, so piston to valve clearance is not an issue if thats...

    GT40 valvetrain question

I did some looking on the Fordracingparts website, and came up with the springs and retainers. M-6513-a50 for the springs and m-6514-a50 for the retainers. Theyre $76 and $50 from Jegs. Only thing is I dont see anywhere what the max. lift is, and it gives the spring pressure at only .420...

    GT40 valvetrain question

After a long time debating what heads I was going to use, I got a set of decent used gt40 (f3ze) heads for $75 complete. Ill do a little port cleanup on 'em, mill 'em, valve job, and have a decent set of heads for notta lotta dough. Ill be using a stock HO roller cam with 1.7 rockers and will...

    347 research

Well I'll be a monkeys uncle! I had always heard they were shorter. The 289 was a little before my time anyway, Ive always had 302/5.0Ls. I still wouldnt do a 347 tho, if only for personal feelings.

    347 research

If youre using a 289 block, it more than likely has shorter cylinders which makes the pistons come further out at the bottom of the stroke when using a 347 crank (3.400" stroke). Some people may not have a problem with this as I know its been done, but I dont think I would do it for my own...
