Progress Thread BluePrint 347 long block engine swap

I'd guess $1,100, which is less than the $1,200 I paid, complete with valve train, if my memory serves, for AFR 165s in ~2001.

Progress Thread BluePrint 347 long block engine swap

It's going to be a few decades before we age out, and I won't care after I'm gone, anyways. I shake my head every time I see or talk block prices, now. It hurts to read that these lower tier blocks are so much more than I paid... I'll grant that 19 years is a long time, but we're paying 50%...

I read that the Fab Dart uses has shut down though. Are we sure dark blocks are not going to stop being produced? Or at least disrupted? And when they come back, what will their price be?

Pairs directly with the crank trigger. No cloud support.

Progress Thread Father Time: High-$ anti-dent defense system

Coil for aesthetics: Installed HVC II coil in black, instead of the old HVC I in red. It makes the engine bay look a little cleaner. After install, I noticed that the crank trigger wheel is red too. Oh well... that's too much work to change to be worth it. And, it can only be seen from...

Great info. I like Germany. Lived there for 5 years. Good people. Would much rather pay them than China.

    Best plugs for carb'd roller

AFR looks good to me. Couple plugs want a tad less timing... others are on point. I'd pull a degree, but I err conservative.

They did a great job on the tint: To my eye, it just looks right with dark tint, matching all the other black trim on the car.

Maybe but a quick search led me to believe the summit blocks are cast in Germany, whereas BPE has a foundry in Nebraska, according to them. Maybe my info is dated?

Progress Thread Father Time: High-$ anti-dent defense system

Replaced spark plug thermal boot socks: This was only a cosmetic swap, but the engine bay has a black/blue/silver theme going, and 2 things stand out to me: 1. the white spark plug boot socks 2. the red HVC coil (do they make in black?) So, I got some black plug boots and swapped 'em on...

Mustang5L5’s progress thread - Rear window fun

GSS307 or GSS340... either way a 255LPH. Swapped it right before dynoing on nitrous just to be safe.

I guess if you wanted to know the answer to that, you'd have to flow test it with and without the sock. But, I'm sorry that there's no clear Smoking Gun. Kind of sucks to play guessing games when a pump is expensive. I like having spare parts on the shelf for stuff like this. I could swap my...

seems like it rules out the FPR. If you have double-tapped the filter, then time to go in-tank.

And this is why I so encourage folks to learn to tune. Even incredible tuners are not going to see your car in all the conditions you will. Plus, it just ups your game a couple of levels to start to understand all of the variables and adjustments at play.

Aside from fuel coming through the regulator, why would the upper be soaked with fuel? That's not right... The injectors fire at the back of the valves at the base of the lower intake, and the fuel should get pushed through the combustion cycle. Hmm... Still, my gut agrees with Noobz. At...

    Best plugs for carb'd roller

Actually, I reread what you stated, @forango, and after 1/2 mile idling back, I don't trust the AFR diagnosis. You really need to cut the motor off and pull the plug right away for accuracy. Also, what's up with the popping 'after' the run? Do you mean that you're popping due to going lean on...

    Best plugs for carb'd roller

Lean to my eye, and I'd take a degree out to try to center the temp band on the corner of the strap. Don't see any detonation there, yet, but that doesn't mean you won't get more in a higher gear. I bought a nice little magnifying tool that lets you light up and magnify the inside of a plug's...

Black Jack: Now a little less of a rust bucket

A lotta places won't turn slotted and/or cross drilled. But I like the way they look, and believe there's some minor performance advantage to slotted ones.

Black Jack: Now a little less of a rust bucket

Very easy. Watch the LMR video. Just make sure you tap the new motor with the factory bolts. If you're going in there, consider buying a hardware kit including guide rod bushings. LMR has a nice kit with all new screws, retainers, push pins, etc.... Removing & reinstalling the guide rods...
