Black Jack: Now a little less of a rust bucket

Made ~340rwhp on the dyno on a smaller shot and ran 12.02@114mph. Changed the pills since then. So, ~370+ rwhp on spray now, as it sits, but I think theres another 20 rwhp in tuning. And, 450 - 500 rwhp somewhere in the future on the next build.

Black Jack: Now a little less of a rust bucket

Torque Steer: I noticed last week that black jack's rear is torque steering. When on the throttle, I have to correct the steer by maybe 5 degrees in the steering wheel, and when I get back out of it, I have to go back the other way. So, I climbed under the car and looked at everything in the...

Sounds like a plan. Torque box reinforcements soon, then I'll order the stiff sidewall 26s.

    Upgrading to SN95 steering rack

The boys in Charlotte have Father Time again for paint correction. I asked them to address the burned boot & PS fluid leak from the rack, and they just HMU with it's leaking internally. So, and I don't know if I was smart or dumb for this, but I nabbed this Ford-reman'd 99+ rack off of Ebay...

Hell, I'm trying to make it through a week with cousins & uncles, and miss the peace and solitude of my home. Kids and dogs are chaos machines.

Considering widening my rear wheels, would like to verify my thoughts on fitment

Learnin' somethin' new every day. Didn't have to fit the wheels on Grover with the TA & PHB.

Considering widening my rear wheels, would like to verify my thoughts on fitment

Did someone mention 6.5" backspacing is about right in a 10?

275s on a 9" wheel are fine. On a 10" wheel works, too. From what I gather, the more square the better the traction in a straight line and the corners. So, you're not wrong for wanting to do it, even if a bit obsessive, but hey... that's called having a hobby.

Mustang5L5’s progress thread - Rear window fun

R12 was awesome. I miss it, but early on Black Jack did amazingly well with R-134 until I screwed things up trying to learn A/C. After the pickup truck hit me and crumpled the hatch a bit, I took an insurance pay out and started looking for a replacement hatch, rather than straightening...

    Low RPM jerking

E303 bucks at 1,400 and below. This may be somewhat tuneable, as I've had it where I could lope along lower when I played around with things, but after more adjustments, it's bucking there and lower again. If you're at 1,500 RPM and above, then I'd say you're probably right about your concerns.

Back ttt. When I was interested before, it was for Father Time, and I did end up with the MT stiffwall 28"x11.5W , on 15" beadlock wheels. Still don't have any real seat time, but that's about to change. Father Time is basically ready to go, and I'm hoping to get it out on those tires, this...

Black Jack: Now a little less of a rust bucket

M/T recommends a stiff wall slick for stick cars, heavier cars, and high powered cars. That's what I got for Father Time, because it'll make 1100 rwhp. On Black Jack, I'm actually thinking soft sidewall is the way to go. Black Jack may eventually push 500 rwhp, but right now it's making well...

Black Jack: Now a little less of a rust bucket

Back from school: I'm back from what  should be my last for-credit academic environment in the Army, and hopefully ever. If I never see the inside of a classroom again, it'll be too soon. Anyways, I traveled back & forth on the 400-mile round trip 4 times, and other than a minor coolant leak...

I'm not using a drag pan. I'll be using the T-sump style road race oriented pan. That said, I would play around with that, watching data logs on my oil pressure to make sure it never loses any.

Sweet update! Glad the heart work went well and you got through the tough months. I'm planning a t-sump canton pan in my next build with a windage tray and crank scraper. Did you do a scraper, too?
