Top Gear on the new Vette (and Ford GT)

These guys drive cars harder than I've ever seen people drive them. They must completely ignore the manufactures warnings of "take it easy with this one" and the like. I remember watching one review (can't remember which car it was), but towards the end the guy made the comment, "Well, these...

Top Gear on the new Vette (and Ford GT)

I actually like the show. They run cars through some pretty aggressive tests. Although, they are quite biased. But then again... so are we. The Ford GT review is a good one. The guy loves it!

    What CAI system to get

Thanks... that was very helpful. One more thing... is the 03 MAF different than the 99 MAF (i.e. can i use that 03 kit on my 99)? Thanks

    2001 cobra?

I paid $13,800 for my 99 Cobra almost a year ago now. LOVE IT! I was going to get a newer GT but when I saw the prices of 99 Cobras, there was just now way I was going to settle for a GT. 99% of the 99 Cobras have already had the fix done. You would have a VERY hard time finding one that...

    What CAI system to get

What if I wanted to make my own "kit". Say buy a generic K&N filter and fabricate an adapter plate (or buy if there's one out there for cheap). What size K&N filter would I need? Is a bigger filter (i.e. longer, more surface area) better (i.e. flow more)?

    What CAI system to get

Where's the best (cheapest) place to get the JDM kit?

K&N Oil Filter, Is it worth it

Do yourself a favor. The next time you change your oil at 3000 miles, send in a sample to any local oil testing facility and compare the viscosity to brand new oil. Especially synthetics... you will see negligible breakdown unless you are running at 6,000rpm for like an hour straight. Normal...

How to get around 40 more engine HP?

Yeah, that's what I was leaning towards. But DANG! those catted pipes are expensive!

How to get around 40 more engine HP?

Yeah, but I think it's every year here in NC if I'm not mistaken. Am I right NC guys?

How to get around 40 more engine HP?

Do you guys have any problems with passing inspection off offraod mid-pipes in NC? I'm new to the area, but I know in NJ it wouldn't fly. I bought my 99 Cobra stock about 10 months ago now and want to do exhaust work but I'm hesitant to do an off-road X/H-Pipe.

K&N Oil Filter, Is it worth it

Check out this website... http://www.ntpog.org/reviews/filters/filters.shtml K&N and Mobile are basically the same. Looks like Mobil 1 filters better, but K&N flows better. I personally use Mobil 1 filters. If I'm going to fun my oil for 7,500 miles might as well keep it clean.

    $15k for a 99 cobra?

So how do you guys like the 4.10 in your 99's? Do you wish you went 4.30's or are you completely satisfied?

Slicks on a 99 Cobra... Dangerous?

A friend just gave me a set of used MT slicks mounted on old stocker 4 bolt mustang wheels. I was thinking of getting me some 15" LX 5 bolt wheels and seeing what my 100% stock 99 Cobra would do with them... is that dangerous? What are my risks? I wouldn't be making a hobby out of it, I...

    what springs to lower cobra?

That's what I though. With the added spring rate I would think that the old (stock) shocks/struts would wear very quickly.

    what springs to lower cobra?

So how about shocks/struts? Do they need to be replaced if you changing your springs to say the Steeda Sport springs?

    The $20K V8 thread

I'm fairly convinced from the arguments presented that there will be a LX-style V8 in '05. Seems very likely. My last Mustang was a 1991 LX notch with a V8 in it... you see almost as many LX 5.0's on the roads as the GT's (Fox Body era). I'd bet that Ford's plans are to mass-produce that 3V...

    Will we see a 2005 Mach 1?

Let me interject some factual evidence... Here is a guy who dyoned a GTO bone stock I believe. I think they were pretty disappointed. It's kind of funny to read all the complaints from the LS1 guys. GTO Dyno results :owned:

99 Cobra water pump vs. 98 Cobra water pump

Just to update... I went ahead and bought the older (cheaper) water pump and put it in this morning. Went in without any hitches. Took about an hour and a half to do the whole thing (minus the huge cleanup I had to deal with afterwards... guess all the coolant didn't drain from the block...

99 Cobra water pump vs. 98 Cobra water pump

Here's a shot of my water pump pulley. Click here It looks like to me that it is the older style. According to the steeda website the older (longer) water pumps will have that pulley that is concaved to offset the belt location to the correct position. The newer ones (shorter) will...
