Is it possible to get 300hp without boost?

Joe, you made 300 on stock heads? Wow - was that with Bryan's .020 shortblock? Which VT cams now?

Is it possible to get 300hp without boost?

If you piecemeal it with lt headers, o/r pipe, catback, cams, heads, valve springs, gaskets, etc. you're probably in the $3000-$3500 neighborhood for parts alone. As far as ET's, I've heard of guys pulling 12's (those who practice/drive regularly) or low 13's. Jay

Is it possible to get 300hp without boost?

I've heard good things about Blue Oval Performance in Vancouver. Might give them a call. Also, the VT cams can be found for around $525-550 for a pair. I bought mine for $525 a while back. There are a lot of guys on here and other boards making 300 RWHP N/A. It can be done. I'm hoping to be...

    Which Tuner: Superchips or Diablo?&Why

Avenger - Sorry, I was referring more to some of the other posts in the thread. I think there is also a lot of misinformation out there about tuning. I'm not an expert and have just begun to work with the SCT package, but there are literally hundreds, if not thousands, of functions in the EEC-V...

    Which Tuner: Superchips or Diablo?&Why

I think you guys are comparing apples and oranges... The Pro Racer Package from SCT gives you absolute control over the operation of the PCM. They also provide you with a base tune and you make the adjustments. It's a great high-end product for those who want full control. The Predator will...

    Car is running REAL RICH!

Do you have a tune on it? I noticed you have an aftermarket MAF in your sig - have you tried the stock MAF?

    DYNO numbers: car running rich

Obviously, something is causing the car to run that rich in open loop. The first thing I would do is what was stated before - swap the O2 sensors from the back to the front (changing the harness obviously). I would also reset the PCM. Disconnect the battery and turn the headlights on - leave it...

So, what else with forged bottom end?

Actually, UPS has started hiring the dyslexic for drivers - they delivered them down the street - he transposed two numbers and took them to a neighbor. Murphy's Law was in full effect on this build! How do you like the LT's? Big difference? I'm thinkin at some point I might get a shorty o/r...

So, what else with forged bottom end?

Thanks. Yep, that's me - everything Bryan went through building this thing he's probably glad it's done - bad rod bolts, missing UPS packages - and in the middle of it he moves into a different place! Bryan has been great to work with - always kept me informed even when the news wasn't good...

So, what else with forged bottom end?

I need some help & suggestions. My car has been down since May with a variety of ailments. Well, I finally see the light at the end of the tunnel (hope it's not a train) - Bryan @ TSS just shipped my new shortblock - .020" over with forged components and a GT crank. Here is a list of what I'm...

    2000 4.6 Engine Gaskets

I called Cometic and talked to them about an alternative thickness on the head gaskets for a 2000 4.6 - I was quoted $250 for a pair of .067" gaskets. I was trying to accomplish two things - lower compression and provide additional PTV clearance (due to paranoia from a bad experience). If you...

    2000 4.6 Engine Gaskets

I talked to Scott @ VTEngine when I had my head problems. I had just replaced ALL of the gaskets you mentioned, except the oil pan. I asked the same question "Can I re-use any of the nearly NEW gaskets I just installed?" His answer to me was no, they need to be replaced. Hope it helps. Jay

    2000 4.6 Engine Gaskets

Nope, not reusable - I know for a fact because I've been through two - three sets of head gaskets when I had problems. The only ones I would even attempt to reuse would be the valve cover and upper intake (if they're reasonably new) otherwise it's another $200-$300 for new gaskets depending on...

    HIGH OIL PRESSURE....

?? - I thought the oil pressure gauges in our cars were just dummy gauges. Either you have pressure or you don't. Jay

    Chips and tunes and programmers.

Absolutely not - a good tune will maximize power without any detonation. If you're detonating there is something wrong. The difference between 92 & 93 should not cause detonation unless you're already running on the ragged edge. Too lean, too much timing, something isn't right - time to put...

    Mach 1,Bullitt,Convertable Sub Frame Cons.

Yes, the stock sfc's need to be removed - it's only 4 bolts and clips, though. There is really no comparison between welded full length and factory sfc's. My 2000 vert handles a lot better since the mm sfc's went in. Jay

Forged internals....whats involved and how much?

You can probably get the parts for around $1400-1500 if you just have your GT crank balanced (rods, pistons, rings, bearings, etc.) It's the machine work that will cost - usually about the same as the parts, maybe a little less. The only difference buying a shortblock is the block itself...

Forged internals....whats involved and how much?

Parts and labor to build the shortblock - then another charge to install it. I used someone else to build the block and a local shop to install it in the car.... I could have been more clear, but it's late. Jay
