    3rd Brake Light

Third Brake Light Scratching I am on my second 3rd brake light, and they are spendy. 90 bucks plus. I've tried everything, including good plastic polishes from Meguiar's and also the 2000 grit sand paper. Nothing works ! Makes me wonder why the stock taillights don't behave like this, and...

    GEM controller question

The old GEM has been re-installed, and so 1. Yes, the #7 fuse still pops immediately 2. Yes, the car starts with the ignition key (original key, original GEM) 3. Yes , the FOB works 4. Didn't have to reprogram the fob, since the original GEM was re-installed 5. I thought the remote...

    GEM controller question

Yes,I have reprogrammed the transmitter before without any problem using the procedure on page 60 of my 99 Mustang Owner's Guide. Now, on page 61 they indicate you need two (2) previously programmed SecuriLock keys , if you want to program another key. But after running my test (detailed...

    GEM controller question

GEM module update I swapped out the GEM module today, and yes, the new GEM module would not work with my current keys. I guess I could buy new keys from Ford and reprogram them myself. My car is a 99 GT. It was interesting that the new GEM didn't blow the #7 15 amp fuse immediately like my...

    GEM controller question

I ordered a GEM controller/electronics box through a salvage yard (due to electrical probs with dome/trunk lights, etc). Does the GEM have anything to do with keyless entry/key/theft protection ? Thanks in advance !!

    Looking at a 99 GT

Well, the 99's still had the aluminum idler pulley arm. You might want to ask the current owner if he went to the steel arm. The IAC valve , ask if it's original. There were several TSBs/recalls - regarding the e-brake and the cruise control linkage. I would double-check everything as far as...

    Power Window problems... HELP!

Power Windows <rant> Who decided that a "one touch" switch window system was a cool idea ? Are we all that lazy that we can't maintain pressure on a switch ? I have had nothing but problems with these d__n power windows, almost from day one, and I'm sick and tired of it. I would have...

    Passenger Window

Sounds like a good plan. Maybe 3M has evolved their adhesives since I used their two-part stuff a few years back. Course, I live in FLA, which leads to the ability to fry bacon on the roof in the summer. BTW, on this last window job I used 1/4 x 1 inch bolts with nylon washers on both sides...

    Passenger Window

I tried the best two-part adhesive you can buy - the adhesive failed eventually. My guess (over the 'net) is that one of the regulator arms is bent, or the rear or forward arm "gliders" have loosened from the regulator rails. I believe you are having issues with one of the regulator arms...

HELP ! - Window regulator question

I had to tap the three locations where the window motor mounts with a 6mm tap. Got three 6mm x 1 1/4 bolts and nylock nuts. Motor cinched down and engaged with the "gear" plate. One thing, though : there is no hole in the base plate and gear plate to lock the gear so that the spring doesn't...

HELP ! - Window regulator question

I got my new window regulator yesterday. I just took out the old regulator, and unbolted the motor. I noticed that on the new regulator there are no threaded "inserts" for the motor mounting bolts. Please see pic. Where can I get some ? Or should I have gotten them with the new regulator ? Thanks.

Front brake job.. What went wrong???

I removed the caliper, and was able to pop one piston out . The other piston was "frozen", so I just bought a new caliper (thanks to advice I got on this board). Problem solved.:SNSign:

Front brake job.. What went wrong???

I had the EXACT thing happen on a different brand car with disc brakes - the brake hoses and calipers were shot. The pistons would not retract, and I had horrible "shimmy" in the front. On my Mustang, when I had a bum caliper, I didn't get "shimmy", but the front brake got VERY hot. The...

    NYC...what to go see??

Take the Subway (A,B,C ?) to downtown Brooklyn (Court St., Jay ST ?). Walk West thru Brooklyn Heights to the water's edge. There is a promenade there with benches, etc. - and you can gaze from there to the Manhattan Side. Great View. Then, find the Brooklyn Bridge. You can see it from the...

    Looking for a short

98% perspiration, 2% inspiration . Disconnected C201c. Unplugged connectors behind the kick panels, one-by-one, then reconnected C201c after each kick panel connector was disconnected, then moved on to the next connector, etc. Fuse #7 still blew, everytime. Removed the A-pillar molding, and...

    Looking for a short

Had to get more fuses. Have kick panels still off and getting ready to pull the door harness connectors in the morning.

    Looking for a short

Pulled all plugs from GEM ; plugged in 201c only; inserted new fuse, and "popped" the fuse. From the 201c connector drawing, there's got to be a short in the courtesy light circuit , or the "door ajar" circuit , since the door locks and power window were working . Thinking out loud...
