compression test results. should i be worried??

I don't know, but my 85 GT with a carbed HO only had 110 psi stock and 135 after I increased the compression to 10.13:1 Maybe my gauge was off though, I dunno. I have seen guys on here and elsewhere saying anywhere from 140 to 170 around your year stang.

    reuse head bolts?

ANY stock head bolt sucks. Sure, it's possible to have them work out ok, but 75% of the time I have reused stock head bolts, even "good" ones, ended up with stretched/broken bolts and head gasket problems. 39.88 for ARP's in summit, I have never seen stock head bolts for even that cheap...

    Harmonic balancer????? wobbly????

You better start hoping it is just the balancer, because normally a wobbly balancer means your crank is broken/bent.

    Help with head identification

Trick flow for some reason didn't really put anything for identification on their heads until a few years ago. If those numbers were for identification originally, they aren't listed on any website anymore. I have the same exact heads with the same type of numbers on them, but I can't say they...

compression test results. should i be worried??

Normal for this to happen bud. Big no-no to screw around with lifter plungers IMO. Compression results look fine though. Since the engine runs smooth and all, there is no need to worry about anything.

Scary oil gauge issues! Pics . .

You can see both the needles in the second pic. The oil pressure one is way low, and the fuel level one is pegged full. Not sure how to solve your problem though, sorry.

edelbrock carb help-breaking up 3500-6k rpm

What do you mean by "fuel pressure is good"? With an edelbrock, you can't run over 6 psi, and I would run 5-5.5 to be safe. And what exactly do you mean by breaking up? Is it losing power? Is it missing? I would take a couple spark plugs out to see what they look like, that will give an...

    stock 302 build up questions

should be able to use the 86 crank, but I would not use anything but the stock HO cam for an otherwise stock engine. I don't think that cam is going to help your power output much, especially if you don't get a valvespring upgrade.

    yer crank is broke dude.

    flywheel

I usually just use an impact gun and forget about torque specs. Just make sure it is putting out enough pressure to be around the torque spec. If you don't feel comfortable with that, best thing is to put the balancer and 15/16 bolt in the front of the crank and then torque.

Stud Girdle??? What is it for???

I wouldn't use a rocker girdle unless you planned on a lot of 7000+ rpm.

    carburater questions

any reason in particular you are running two carbs? normally it's better to use just one. You usually end up with the same or better power, and two carbs are much harder to tune together than one. But you will need the intake, carbs, special throttle linkage to link the two carbs, and that's...

    MSD Ignition 8352

Nope, straight 12v source. Just make sure it is a 12v source powered by the ignition switch so that it's only getting power when the key is in the "on" and "start" positions. The distributor came with a wiring harness right? that plugs into the female plug coming from the distributor? Just...

white smoke in exhaust, not oil or water

White smoke can mean other things than coolant. He also stated the smoke smells, which would mean it's not coolant. Looking at the spark plugs can also help determine if it's coolant, oil, or excessive fuel. So I would go ahead with doing that.

What is your opinion? 3.80 or 4.10 8" rear

3.80's for sure is my vote. With 4.10's you will hate first gear.

Noob Question about rear end posi

you should do a burnout turning both left and right. If you leave two black marks and/or go sideways, your posi is working great. Doing it in a straight line is not always a tell all story.

    5.0 Main Bearing Problems

Calm down dude, vikingpower gave you good advice. Research and document before you do anything. Don't be mad just because he's right. Reading up on something before we do it is something we ALL ignore at times, and 9 times out of 10 it ends up really screwing us over.

    Carb engines

yup, every 5.0 mustang up to 1985 was carbed. However, that is only true of the 5-speed manual cars. All the autos got the new CFI setup (which was garbage). Your 1986 V6 is definitely CFI or EFI, not carbed.
