    2.3 t5 transmission

That's a possibility but like I said, only way to find out is get it up in the air and climb under there while it's running.

    2.3 t5 transmission

On the video, it sounds like something banging on the floorpan. First thing that comes to mind is the exhaust pipe slapping against something. Broken motor mounts or trans mount allowing eng/trans to torque more than usual and bang against something. Time to get it up in the air and see WTH...

    Electrical Electrical ground question

I had to lengthen the coil wires on my last swap. The easiest way is simply cut the wires a couple inches past the connector, remove the connector then splice them back together. You'll want to splice them together properly though. Those are two critical wires. I took a couple pics on how...

Hey whats up! More 2.3 power needed

The FelPro 8993 is the one to use. It's all I've ever used and guys over at TurboFord have been using it for decades. Also, the guys at Gnari are right. Follow their advice. I have an older Bob's log on my motor. Before I installed it, I took it to the machine shop and had it milled flat...

    Electrical Electrical ground question

A ground bar is the way to go. All ground wires to the ground bar then the bar grounded directly to the frame. I welded a 1/4" plate to the frame with 2 studs. One for the ground bar and one for the Neg batt cable.

Hey whats up! More 2.3 power needed

You put rings in there? You didn't bore it out, did you? If not, with 300k the cylinders are guaranteed to be out of round and the new rings probably won't seal. I'd check with Chip and see what his thoughts are on that. As far as color combo, I'm not a fan of black blocks cuz it's harder to...

    Fox Foxbody rear jack points

I'm a big fan of wood cribbing. 2x4's and 3" exterior screws. You can build them as high or as low as you want. Unlike jack stands under the axle tubes, the cribbing is under the wheels (kinda like RaceRamps) so nothing is obstructing your movement under the car.

Hey whats up! More 2.3 power needed

The one on the back of the rail, next to the nipple, is the fuel dampner. Leave that alone. The one on the front of the rail, with the 3 bolt base and a hose coming out of the top, is your fuel pressure regulator. As far as E85, I don't know enough about it. Others, I'm sure are more...

    OBD1 Tester woes

Did you swap a 5.0 from an '87 TBird? Also, define 'removable harness'. Did you cut every wire in half and install some sort of 60 pin connector between them? Sounds like there's a wiring concern between your data link connector and the ECU?

Hey whats up! More 2.3 power needed

Your stock fuel rail is fine, just clean it up well. Your fuel pressure regulator is another story....especially with 300,000 miles on it! It's good insurance to replace it now while the fuel rail is off the car. Kirban adjustables are the goto regulator for 2.3T's...

What he said ^^^! Port match is a good thing with these motors. You can also polish the combustion chambers with a sanding roll. Stay away from opening up the chambers though. The water jackets are right behind there. Ask me how I know! Found an old pic of the tools I used to port match my...

    Engine Question regarding KOER codes.

I pulled KOER codes on '93 Mustang 5.0 and the first number that pops up is the cylinder identification code. It's a 6. Shouldn't it be an 8? This is with the basic Innova 3145 OBD1 digital code reader. Inquiring minds want to know.

Hey whats up! More 2.3 power needed

Just walk into the BAR facility. Mines at the local junior college, be polite and ask your question. Give 'em a quick synopsis. '88 TC motor into '87 Mustang. Exact same engine, only turbocharged. All factory '88 TC smog equipment. Can I use an '88 TC replacement cat from the muffler shop...

Hey whats up! More 2.3 power needed

You don't need an $800 cat. Just buy a regular California CARB compliant cat for an '88 Thunderbird Turbo Coupe. Should be around $200. You should be able to use everything else. Make sure your EGR is functioning and all smog equipment is working properly. Replace all vac lines. You don't...

Hey whats up! More 2.3 power needed

OK.....there's something wrong here. The T5 from a N/A '87 2.3 is the exact same tranny that came in a '87-'88 Turbo Coupe. The only difference is a higher tooth count on the speedo drive gear. I've had to deal with the BAR refs on 2 different occasions. Once for my avatar '89 and once for...

Engine Cant get harmonic balancer puller to work… crank just spins

Just spitballin' here but how about wedging a crow bar between the puller bolt and water pump to keep the balancer/crank from spinning? If not, may have to unbolt the A/C condenser and slide it forward in order to get a full sized impact in there.
