    Tank_567 Turbo build

I upgraded the fronts way back in 2006 when my factory brakes wore out, but I didn't get the rears until a few days ago. The Cobra brakes are one of my favorite mods, and they certainly win the "bang-for-the-buck" award (if you buy used like we did). I stripped and repainted the calipers so...

Good call. I just got finished upgrading to Cobra rears myself. I think I accidentally let air into the master cylinder, though :nonono: .

    Changing a torque converter on a 1996

If you're going to order a torque converter anyway, why not upgrade while you're in there? For what it's worth, all 1996-2004 Mustangs should have the smaller converter. Here's an excellent reference for the 4R70W, written by one of the people (Jerry Wroblewski) who designed it...

    Changing a torque converter on a 1996

Here's the method I would use to drain the trans: http://sites.google.com/site/fordf150p0171p0174fix/4r70w-fluid-change-procedures. It's written for F150 owners, but the procedure should work for our cars, too.

    Changing a torque converter on a 1996

If I'm not mistaken, the switch from Mercon III to Mercon V was part of a Ford TSB to fix the torque converter shudder. I suggest you change your fluid to Mercon V before replacing hard parts.

    Mustang New Engine Won't Start

Based on the tests above, I'm inclined to believe the fault lies either with the DTR or the wiring from the DTR to the #85 pin on the starter relay. I tried to jump pins 10 and 12 to bypass the neutral safety switch, but I still didn't get it to crank. I measured the resistance between pins 10...

    Mustang New Engine Won't Start

The starter relay isn't clicking. It seems to be in good shape, though, as are all the fuses. I tested continuity between the fuse box and the starter and everything checked out. There doesn't seem to be a signal making it to the relay when the key is turned, though. I tried adjusting the...

    Mustang New Engine Won't Start

Thanks. I'll check the relay and starter harness when I go to the shop tomorrow. Do you have (or know where I could find) wiring diagrams for the engine bay of a 2001 Mustang GT? It couldn't hurt to make sure every connector is plugged in.

Progress Thread Flghtmstr1's 700 Rwhp Build

I made a thread in the Tech forum so that others will be able to more easily search for this issue (and its eventual resolution) in the future: http://www.stangnet.com/mustang-forums/threads/mustang-new-engine-wont-start.855095/.

Thanks Tank! The red wire is connected to the fuse box, and the black ring terminal is grounded to a lug on the front cover. Would it be possible for you to take more photos of the positive (red) side of that harness? I want to see what other connectors are up there.

    Mustang New Engine Won't Start

Now that you're involved, I'm sure we'll figure it out. :hail: I'm pretty sure I connected that white wire before I put the battery in, as well as the other round connectors in this area. I'll have to double check tomorrow when I head back up to the shop. How many / which grounds need to be...

    Mustang New Engine Won't Start

Yes. I'm at work now, but I just called my friend (who owns the shop I'm using) and asked him to try to jump the starter solenoid with a screwdriver, and he said the starter engaged when he did so. So it sounds like the signal isn't making it from the ignition to the starter solenoid. To me...

    Mustang New Engine Won't Start

I posted in my build thread, but I wanted to post here as well for more visibility. I tried to start the Mustang on Sunday and the engine didn't turn over. People outside the car said they heard a relay clicking when I turned the key, but nothing beyond that. Any ideas?

Progress Thread Flghtmstr1's 700 Rwhp Build

Update: I tried to start the car yesterday, and the starter never clicked on or attempted to turn over the engine. It's a brand new starter, so I'm thinking I forgot to plug something in or wired something incorrectly. If anyone has ideas, I'm all ears. Is wmburns still on this site? I could...

    Magnapacks & catted x-pipe

I have Magnapacks, a catted X, and cams. I'll be posting plenty of videos when I finally get the car started (which will be either tomorrow or Sunday).

Progress Thread Flghtmstr1's 700 Rwhp Build

Work and life has been incredibly busy, so I haven't been able to spend a whole lot of time on the build recently. Nonetheless, I have been able to make some progress. Here are the latest updates: I installed the transmission: Followed by the blower: I hope the hood clears...

This is the pump I have: http://www.lethalperformance.com/03-04-svt-cobra-cooling-intercooler-pumps-c-16_245_6986/ford-racing-intercooler-coolant-pump-p-33804. Did Tork Tech advise you to use something else?

No, but I'll try to remember to take one when I next see the car. I'm pretty sure it's just the standard black Bosch pump, though.

They never mentioned that to me. What pump are you using? I have a 3" upper and both 7" and 9" lowers. I plan on using the 7" for initial start-up and tuning, then switching to the 9" once I'm convinced everything's in order.
