    4:10 or 4:30????

I think I'm going to replace myself with a robot that posts this URL in response to every thread with the word "gears" in it: http://www.svtoa-atlanta.org/cgi-bin/trans.cgi Haha, I think 99SVTAddict is ready for a robot too. We'll write a 99SVTAddict simulator that tells everyone who posts...

Need some Advice from the SVT guys

The stage 1 is just a GT (or sometimes a V6) with some cosmetics and lowering springs. I'd choose any year of Cobra over it. I picked my 99 Cobra over an 02 GT back in 2002, and I'm very glad I did. Not only is the Cobra faster, but there's just something nice about owning an SVT.

    97 Cobra: T56 Ordered!

New clutch. The viper t56 has a 26 spline input shaft as opposed to the Cobra's 10 spline. The bell housing is also different. My viper t56 came in at $3,326 including shipping from D & D, including a balanced aluminum driveshaft, modified x-member, and bellhousing. D & D said most...

Gears And Exhaust Questions 98 Cobra

Here's one with a more detailed comparison than the Corral calc: http://www.svtoa-atlanta.org/cgi-bin/trans.cgi That's highly subjective. If you want a classic muscle car sound, you want a chambered muffler, like a flowmaster. Straight through mufflers like Magnaflow sound farty to my...

anyone have mm polyurathane irs bushings?

Here's someone: http://www.corral.net/forums/showthread.php?s=&postid=3241574#post3241574 I must confess I bought a set of these without doing much research on them. They don't seem worth the labor cost to pay for the install, but maybe I'll put them in myself one of these days.

anyone have mm polyurathane irs bushings?

I was planning to have some installed, but my mechanic says they aren't worth the effort. IIRC, it was going to be about 5 hours labor ($300), and they'd make little or no difference. You could buy slicks for the same money and get far more benefit from them. If you're doing the labor...

    Calibrate Speedo?

2500 @ 45 mph with those wheels is a 4.30 rear. Congratulations. :) 2400 @ 45 would be 4.10's and 3.73's would be about 2200. For your wheels, uncorrected 4.30's would put your speedo at about 58 when you're really going 45. 4.10's would be about 55, and 3.73's would only read around 50...

    Calibrate Speedo?

We can figure out your rear end gear ratio with a little math. What size are the tires (width/profile/rim), and what rpm does your engine turn at 45 mph in 4th gear?

    D&D Performance T56 Conversion (97 Cobra)

New u-joints are included with the driveshaft D & D provides with their kit. Other than that, I'm replacing the clutch, flywheel, rear end gears (stepping up to 4.56), differential bushings, half-shafts (stepping up to 31 spline 03's), and adding an IRS brace. The bushings, half-shafts, and...

    D&D Performance T56 Conversion (97 Cobra)

Oops, I was mistaken. 96-98 Cobras have a 10.5" disc rather than the 11" on the 99+. I'm not sure what you need for your combo. Give D&D a call, and they can give you the correct answer. (248) 735-6220

    D&D Performance T56 Conversion (97 Cobra)

Haha, don't sweat it. I didn't know any of this either until I started researching my swap. The 96-04 Cobras should all have the same clutch dimensions. 11", 10 spline. You could just reuse your current clutch if you wanted to, but unless it's brand new or something, it makes good sense...

    D&D Performance T56 Conversion (97 Cobra)

Yep, the Cobra T56 is 10 spline just like the T45. I went with a dual kevlar unit from Apex Motorsports. It's total overkill for my current setup, but I figure a few extra dollars at this stage will save me money in the long run when I step up to a power adder.

    D&D Performance T56 Conversion (97 Cobra)

I'm not sure what the kit includes in the way of directions. I had mine shipped to the shop that's doing the install for me. Here's a Stangnet article on it though: http://www.stangnet.com/pbullitt/tremect56/index.html One important piece of info D&D didn't mention over the phone: The viper...

    About 4:10's

The only gripe I hear about 4.10's is that you'll have to shift into 4th shortly before the traps in the 1/4 mile. 4.30's are better for drag racing. If you want a detailed comparison of two gears, check out http://www.svtoa-atlanta.org/cgi-bin/trans.cgi

WooHoo!! Got a 1999 SVT Cobra!!

Ahhh, I didn't realize Jerry could burn Diablos. Everybody in the local SVTOA who got a Ski tune went with the EEC and sold their Diablo to pay for it. :) I'm thinking I'd like to get a flip chip so I can switch tunes on the fly. I have vague ambitions of installing a nitrous system one of...

    03 cobra half shafts broke

Clean the rubber out from under your fender wells, or you'll get busted. If the dealer decides you've been racing, they can void your warranty.

WooHoo!! Got a 1999 SVT Cobra!!

Where'd you get your tune done? I've been putting off getting a chip for a while, but now that I'm getting a new rearend, there's no avoiding it.
