please explain to me the big deal about a six cylinder to larger engine swap?

And torque... And sound.. ;) Ok, the fuel consumption could be slightly increased, but altogether it´s not so bad project, if the front is already with discs and 5 lugs? I´d assume tuning I6 isn´t free? I wouldn´t prefer converting to V8, if the car was fully original, low mileage diamond...

    66 pic (photoshop)

Yeah, they may look cool, to some, but the optimum profile for tire is between 40-45, so they arent gonna make your car any faster... :)

please explain to me the big deal about a six cylinder to larger engine swap?

So, what was the thing about rear-end? 8"? Zookeeper has good points there, and if you already have 5-lug frontspindles, then I´d say go for it. Maybe better to save some money and drive with your rebuilt I6 and gather parts from swapmeets etc., than spend your money to I6 and be dissapointed...

stock 351w and performer rpm intake?! (from germany :) )

I have same kind of setup: -69 351w, with Crower cam, stock heads, hedman headers. I chose performer (not RPM), cause I got it cheap... I don´t think there is so big difference with stock heads? If you are going to update your heads in near future, then deffinetly go with Performer RPM or Weiand...

what kind of compression do you run?

I run Europes std 98 gas (lower one here in Finland 95, as prob for you also) I have -69 351W with no probs with 10,5 compression. It depends also of the cam you have and degree of ignition.. So, I think youll be fine with 10,5... But the Blower part doesn´t sound so good? Even with...

Replacing 3 speed with 4 speed - what is correct speedometer cable routing?

You really can´t see it from the hood... I think it goes over tranny rear support and then just over tranny. It goes in from the oval hole in the floor, on the height of your toes, when sitting...Does this help? I have only one clip, just before coming inside..

Just wonder if these seats would probably work in my stang

"you might be able to put a peice of steal plate on the bottom then bolt the stock rails to them with a small amout of work" Yep. I used two(/seat) 10x60 mm bars to widen the tracks distance.

    Modifiyng Alu-Wheels

Just the front. Rear was OK already. "I wouldn't feel comfortable removing any stock from the center of an alloy wheel" Yes, it should be considered carefully, but the structure of wheel is very important factor. In my occasion there was material enough, cause they make these same wheels...

    shelby tractions bars

I´m installing underrides also, and was thinking the effect of lowering blocks to under ride-style bars. The more you lower, the more there is leverage for rearend. I have 1" blocks now, and was wondering if anybody had any probs with these or 2" blocks?? I don´t think it´ll rip the frame...

    Modifiyng Alu-Wheels

Just got my fwheels from shop. They took 4mm of the center and now with 225-50/15 they fit perfectly. Made some research done of fenderlip rollers, and there is one shop that makes the job in my area, but I don´t think it´s necessary :) (30$/fender)

    Seats, Exhuast and Headers question

I have some Recaro LS series seats from early 90´s in my 66 with aftermarket seatrails. The ones I have were installed afterwards to one BMW, but they are standard in Some cars like Cosworth Sierra´s or M3 bmw´s. They may be hard to find in US, but with no adoupt, Recaro makes best seats for...

    Historic's suspension set up.

That Historic:s assembly looks good to me. It is nice to see what people really have ni their cars, and not only salesmen talking. And as I understood, he didn´t advertise this setup of his to bge copied to street?? This is not a street setup. i don´t know what kind of historic rules you...

    351 manifold on 289 ?

The design on 351 manifolds is about same as in 289 Hi-Po, so they are better than std exhaust manifolds of 289. If you like your engine quiet they are good for you, but if a little more noise isn´t a problem go with headers (like hedman, don+t cost much but do the job ok)

how to identify 351w as opposed to a 302 or 289?

check this out: http://www.wrljet.com/fordv8/small.html The firing order depends on the cam. There is much better after market availability of cams with firing order of 289 or 302 (not HO), so it may or may not have the original firing order.
