    87 or 93 Octane

Higher octane fuel does not equal more horsepower More horsepower = higher octane fuel requirement (usually) Running 93 octane fuel in an unmodified engine, designed to run on 87, is not going to add horsepower. The reason the dyno showed a HP difference with the LT5 is because its...

    Severe corrosion on new mustangs

The big deal is it looks bad (especially if it's under the hood). You get a brand new car and find rust on it, even if it's just surface rust. To be fair, I've spent a lot of time underneath cars restoring them, so I may care about that more than most.

    Gotta Have Stripes!

Got my dealer to throw the stripes in at cost when I ordered the car. Hopefully, he'll honor that. A 6 hour install project is a little more than I would prefer to tackle.

    get this

Hmmmm. Between me and my brothers when we each went through high school, one owned a '69 Mustang 351C 4V, one a '69 Pontiac GTO 400 tri-power, and one a '70 Ford Torino 429CJ Ram Air. After that experience would I recommend a musclecar to a teenager ... uh, probably not. :D

    Most preferred break-in method?

Just to be clear, I wasn't recommending that break-in technique, just that some guy I knew did it that way. Then again, he may have had a few screws loose!

    Synthetic oil

I've usually waited a little longer to go to full synthetic (longer 'break-in' time), but then I made that very first oil change before 3,000 miles, too. I've gone about 1,000 on original oil, changed the oil and put in manufacturer recommended, then changed to Mobil 1 at 3,000. Probably...

    87 or 93 Octane

Quick question ... so you make a few mods that require a new tune / calibration. Where do you take it? Your dealer? Any service shop? I'm assuming that most, if not all, of the engine and exhaust mods I've seen discussed on these forums are going to void the warranty on the car?

    Most preferred break-in method?

I used to work with a guy that used that break-in technique. He'd say, "Put it to the floor and if it holds together, it's a good motor!" I think he went through quite a few engines that way! :D

    87 or 93 Octane

The octane rating of fuel is simply a measure of its resistance to pre-ignition, or knock. The higher the rating, the more resistant it is to pre-ignition. Unless you start increasing the cylinder head compression (where higher octane is needed to avoid knock), you probably aren't going to see...

    Severe corrosion on new mustangs

Yes. I had to do the exact same thing to my 03 Mach I. It had surface rust on some parts under the vehicle. I imagine that's pretty common on new cars, since those parts don't get painted at the factory. A little scary when you first look at it, but the Rustoleum does the trick.

    MyColor: Whats Yours Set AT?

You mean original as in 1965? Could be. Both my '68 and '69 had green lighting in the dash.

    Got my build date!!!

Got the call from my dealer yesterday ... my GT is scheduled for build April 25! I feel pretty lucky that it only took a few weeks from my order to get a build date, after hearing some of the horror stories others have had.

2005 GT: Hood Pins - Yes or No??

I love the look, but it scares me to death to bore holes in a brand new hood. :(

How much have have you endured?

Agreed! I have an '03 Mach I with zero problems after 10,000 miles. It's the process of getting the kinks worked out in a brand new design. There's also something to be said for the high demand of these cars. Whenever demand exceeds capacity, there is the chance that production quality can...

    can you hear me now?

I never have quite understood that with trucks, either. Muscle cars, yes to a point. A nice rumble is good. It complements the power under the hood. Too loud and it's annoying. But, trucks? I own a truck, and I love it! It's my utility vehicle. I can haul mulch, stone, 2x4s, my riding...
