    Harmonic balancer for 331 stroker?

Depends on how you are using the motor. If you are road racing I would not use anything but a ROMAC. Street or Drag should be fine with something less

    Carb Help

I have a 750 dp Proform main body carb with new quick fuel base plate and metering plates, 4 corner idle. Carb is brand new except for the old fuel bowls and floats. I used it for dyno tuning only. I have a 347 and it ran ever so slightly better with a Mighty Demon 650. Tuning it was easy and...

    2.25 or 2.5 inch exhaust.

I would like to see you prove it on a chassie dyno. 2" compared to 2.5" 5-10hp if your lucky. I did it at the track and I know what happened. This was some 20 odd years ago but still valid. Not saying this holds true for a 400 plus hp engine combo but thats not what he has. You knuckle...

    2.25 or 2.5 inch exhaust.

I had a 2" system with cherry bombs on a 289. I ran a best time of 12.83 with nothing more than a solid cam, 650 Holley and headers. The car ran within a tenth with open headers as it did with the full exhaust. Anything short of a full on rece motor does not need 2.5". This is the same as the...

How badly did I screw up?

Don't worry about it. Its not going anywhere once its bolted up tight! If it did the factory shims would be all over the road. The one hole is locating it properly front to back and the oblong hole is still locationg it up and down. Weld a thick washer on the inside for added strength. I...

    Cowl Rustproofing

P.O.R. has some bobs that are on the end of a wire that work with the POR product that will seal up and prevent any corrosion from happening. You will still have to remove the front fenders and go in through the large drain holes. Then you have to get a flexible nozzle to go in through the...

    Igntion advance on stroker

The only thing that matters is total advance at about 3,000-3,400 rpm. It should be about 34 to 38 deg. The initial advance depends on what bushing you have in the MSD dist. Most cars with bigger cams like 20 deg total in the MSD dist for best idle and 14-18 intial. If the cam has a decent...

about time for a new carburetor

By the way, not just any old Autolite 1.08 will work properly on a 289. I had one that was for a 352 and it was a real dog. I found out that the secondaries open very late if at all when these carbs are used on a289. If you want one, just make sure it was factory installed on a 289 and not a...

about time for a new carburetor

I just Dynoed a 347 with alum heads and large solid cam .560/[email protected] that made north of 450hp. We tried 3 carbs and measured air flow through each. The 650 Demo out performed all others. The other carb was a 750 holley with a Proform main body, metering plates and base plate but only by about 3...

This carb will not function on a 289 properly, I know, I have tried. The secondaries will open very late or not at all on a 289. This would need to be re-calibrated by someone who know Autolite 4100's Only people I know of are Pony Carbs but it will cost you and he will try and talk you into...

    Couple Questions on Classic Mustangs

I have rewired two cars in the last 2 years, just get the factory reproduction harnesses, they fit and are very easy to install. Most of the time the underdash harness is in good shape so just replace the ones that need it. Motor mounts, I just drill a hole thru them and put a 5/16 bolt with a...

    conflicted...take two...

Other than the fact that you already have it. Why would you put a 390 pig in a 68 Mustang? Not a lot of power, bad mpg, car will handle like a lead sled. I would take it to the yard and trade it for a good 351w.

    Rear Axle Ratio

I would go with 3.25's on a auto and 3.50's with a man trans. The extra slipage in a auto will net about the same hwy rpm. Anything lower will make the car faster but at a trade off. If drivability on the hwy is important don't go any lower.

    holley accelerator pump tunning?

Doesn't sound to me like it has anything to do with the pumps. Idle to wot in low gear would give you the biggest bog if it were excel pump. Have you checked the timing curve? Rear jets seem small to me, Why would it go lean only in 3rd? Power valve maybe? I'm no Holley expert but been...

    This is Exhausting

I have never used a gasket on a iron manifold to a iron head either. Never had a problem. When I did use a gasket I just had a place for it to burn out. Just check the manifold with a flat file to remove any burrs. Use anti seize and torque.

What Spark Plugs should I use?

The timing should be 34 total. what ever it takes initial to get 32-36 total at around 2800-3000 rpm. make sure you disconnect the vacuum advance when checking
