    sporadic mm&ff delivery

That is just one of the reasons I don't subscribe to them anymore.

how many miles are fords 5.0s good for?

I had one I took out at 211,000 miles. Still ran awesome just used a quart of oil every 1000 miles and did not smoke at all. For me that was every two weeks as I drive 500 miles a week. I got tired of putting a quart of oil in every two weeks. Put in another 5.0L that I built and drove the car...

Most interesting experiences with the police..lets here it.

One Friday night I was working on my Mustang and just finished up putting in the tranny. It was late and I was tired. I hit the shower and went to bed. I figured I would take it to work on Sat the next day on its test drive. I work 45 minutes from my house. Sat morning came and I rolled it out...

Decked block...shaved heads...now manifold wont fit? HELP!

See if the intake fits fine with no gaskets. (Bolt holes and ports that line up) If it does then mill off the thickness of the gaskets from the sides of the intake. It is not uncommon to mill the intake .060 per side.

    Lincoln 430 info anyone ?

The 430 Lincoln is not a FE. It shares the same bellhousing and motor mount bolt patterns as the FE, Thats it. A 5.0L is too small for that big car. The only other motors that will get it up and moving are the 429-460's. They have torque. But you'll have to change everything to install one. Even...

    Cylinder wall

Those are called witness marks. They are from the dial bore guage. The bore guage is spring loaded on the centralizer points. So they lightly touch the walls and leave witness marks due to the spring tension. They do not hurt anything. Most shops will hone out the bore to the final size and keep...

    rockers issue

The stock rocker ratio is 1.6. Take the gross valve lift of the cam and divide it by 1.6. This will give you cam lift. Now multiply it by 1.7 and this will give you the new gross valve lift specs.

maaco a bad choice as usual?

Guy's go over to the Four eyed pride website. Hissing Cobra wrote up a thread on restoring the mouldings. I think many of you will be suprised. Yes you can paint them. And yes you can straighten them out when they get bent. It is a GOOD READ.

SOUTHSIDE LIFT BARS, CAN I GET AN OPINION?

Welding is optional on the South Side bars. Like MadDawg said. The secondary plates are to be welded or bolted to the housing brackets. If you did neither on the install then the banging and rattling would occur. The shop noticed this and welded them up. If they get bolted on, over a period of...

My 331 Stroker build...your input please

Put on a set of A.F.R. 185's, Comp XE-274 or XE- 282 H.R., Systemmax intake, 75 TB, 30LB Injectors and a 75-80 Mass Air Meter. Should pull over 400 h.p. to the rear tire easily. With all the parts you originally listed maybe 310 at the wheels and that would be stretching it.

    1985 mustang gt

The cfi set-up sucks. It is a two barrel throttle body mounted on a stock two barrel intake manifold made for carbs. Throw away the whole system and put a 4v carb and intake on it. You can use the original fuel pump and lines if you put in a regulator on the feed line and still run the return...

    331 STROKER COMPRESSION INPUT NEEDED

If nitrous is in the plans run the 210 c.c. heads he (The builder) wants to use or some A.F.R. 205's. Run the compression in the mid to high 10's And keep the quench in check. Nitrous doesn't really care what the compression ratio is. This will make a nice street/strip combo. And 420-450 at the...

    Steering Shaft vs. Header Clearance

I had the same problem with my old style Mac 1 3/4" Long tubes. I slid two 1/8" thick flatwashers in between the engine block and the motor mounts. (one for each bolt). I did this on both sides. This raised the engine up an 1/8" and cleared the rag joint on the steering shaft. The washer trick...

Is hatch rattle really this bad?

See if the plastic bushing is on the striker bolt. If the bushing is broken off it happens quite a bit then put on a new striker bolt. The parts stores carry new striker bolts with new bushings already installed on them. It is a $5.00 fix. Mine was broken off and the rattle drove me insane. I...

what is voltage on a stock coil

I've played with plug gaps anywhere from .045-.060. Never found a real difference in power or in my track times. The wider plug gaps are harder on the ignition components. I usually run mine at .045 with a stock E.F.I. coil and a M.S.D 6AL Box.
