302 engine swapped into a 67 coupe sixer?

That guy belongs to this site or did until he sold that car. He might still be here.

302 engine swapped into a 67 coupe sixer?

I just searched for the weights, looks like its a 50lb difference between a 302 and a 351W. Good luck on whatever route you take.

302 engine swapped into a 67 coupe sixer?

joshs69stang, the transmission problem only comes into play with early I6 cars, after a certain year, they went to a low mount starter which works with V8s. I want to 69 was the year. I'm not sure of the exact weight differnce but I don't think its much. A stoke kit in a 351 would push it...

302 engine swapped into a 67 coupe sixer?

Wrong, he quoted me on the engine thing, and then said something that had nothing to do with what I said. You may however be correct about the seat thing. Its kinda funny that some of you guys are mad at the rest of us for liking stock cars (high power or not). Then some you think a common...

302 engine swapped into a 67 coupe sixer?

You missed the whole point of the post. Please READ before running your mouth about stuff I NEVER said.   I don't recall saying it made it more valuable, just rare. Just checked and I did not. Not many having it is the freaking definition of rare! GaPonyFarm was the only...

302 engine swapped into a 67 coupe sixer?

I don't know myself, but a lot of people here seem to think its the end all of Ford engines or something. Wow, this thing took a bad turn while I was gone. Anyway, since you're determined to do it, why not go with a 351W or something bigger then? You seem to have the money. GaPonyFarm...

302 engine swapped into a 67 coupe sixer?

Oh, ok. I understand you better now. Yea, if the engine is already shot, might as well go for it. When I bought mine, I had a 390 I wanted to drop in. I decided against it because the car is in pretty good shape. Sorry if I came off kinda harsh earlier.

302 engine swapped into a 67 coupe sixer?

Still shouldn't require a swap from common V8 parts. The price of a V8 body ain't that far from the I6 version. You say you have plenty of time so why not wait for a V8 body? You can find one. A 200 done right is not the joke a lot of people assume it is.

302 engine swapped into a 67 coupe sixer?

But he is only putting in a "cheap" 302, so he wouldn't have to do all that with a V8 model.

302 engine swapped into a 67 coupe sixer?

Its an I6 not a V6. Sorry, I don't mean this in a bad way, but you have a lot to learn. I still stand by my advice, if you want, you can build up the six for less money than the swap and will be just as fast as the "cheap 5.0" you want (really depends on if you mod the motor though). The I6...

Thats kinda rare too with the bench seat. Don't butcher it, get another one and someone restore that one.

Found two possible project cars, could use opinions

I bought my 67 for $2500. Its an I6, but all the numbers matched and had very little rust. I would certainly look into the second one.

go for car two. I wouldn't pay $2500 for the first car.
