That should work nicely for your set up.:nice: Post some pics as you make progress.

    Flywheel/starter problems?

In addition to a possible bad ring gear, the hole in the block plate may be too large, causing the starter to not be aligned properly. What bell housing and block plate are you using? What starter are you using? The old block plates had a slightly larger opening for the starter than the '82...

    Crane's 1968 Mustang Restomod

The lower driver side corner of the back glass sure looks like rust to me. If you don't get that completely removed it will bubble back through the paint in a year or two at the most.

    Scattershield with tremec and 351

When I started on my r&p design, the only one available was the TCP unit, and I didn't want to pay their price. Both Randall's and RRS came to market well before mine was drivable, both using the GM J car rack. In hind sight, I could have saved a small fortune and a lot of time had I bought a...

Yes the TKO 600 has a 26 spline input shaft. You will need a 10.5" clutch for the 157t flywheel. Not every clutch manufacturer makes a 10.5" disc with the 26 spline hub. My disc is from McCloud, and it's a dual face disc with Kevlar on one side and ceramic on the other. It has a fully sprung...

    Scattershield with tremec and 351

Thanks for the kind words. So far I'm very happy with it. I designed my own front suspension and r&p kit to work together, so it took a while to get everything sorted out, but I've installed and removed it several times with the car just on plastic ramps, and it's not hard at all. The...

Yes. It looks a lot like the Lakewood scatter shields. They are very heavy and hard to get headers to fit around.

If you plan to do much drag racing I'd get a 164 tooth flywheel and an 11" clutch. For street or open track driving, a 157 t flywheel and 10.5" clutch will work fine. The big steel bell should work with either one, but check with a dealer to make sure before ordering it. There is a light...

No Power, pops out back, runs hot, and Pi$$ me off

I know this may be way out in left field, but have you checked to make sure you don't have a couple of spark plug wires crossed? I would be very concerned about one spark plug being oily. You may have a serious problem in that cylinder already like a broken ring or burned piston.

Intake and carb selection advice needed

The Holley 570 SA is a good match for your engine, and I second all the intakes DH listed but would add the Weiand Excelerator to the list. Even though it's a single plane intake the runners are small enough that the mid range power is great, the bottom end is still very close to a dual plane...

    4100 1.08 Carb Question

Great article bnickel, but I don't think I would be willing to cut on an original 351W shaker base. They didn't make very many and it took me years of Carlisile shopping to find one that wasn't a rusted piece of junk. The Torker II works just fine.

69 drop kit vs weird factory effect question

Try 1969 Mustang Supersite Web Forums - Powered by vBulletin I also think your rear springs are probably sagging, exaggerating the already high stance of the front. The cheapest way to lower the front is to add lowering springs, but you might as well do the Shelby drop while you're at it.

    4100 1.08 Carb Question

I wonder what CFM the 1.19 equates to?? You are probably aware that Pony Carbs has tooled up to reproduce the 4100 castings. Maybe they'll offer one with the rare 1.19 size butterflies. With my big engine I didn't feel the 600 cfm Autolite 4100 would be up to the task. I have to say that with...

Help me choose a 351 Windsor

That's great info bnickel. I guess both of my Autolites are pre '64 then because they take the regular Holley main jets. Another nice feature about the early 4100 is they have a metal pump arm instead of plastic, which can break and have some deflection. I DO have Magnaflows:rlaugh...

Help me choose a 351 Windsor

Just because you can get away with a loud exhaust doesn't mean you will actually want one for very long:D I'd rather not think of myself as an old fart just yet (no grandkids) but I'm looking for something that's fairly quiet from idle to around 2500, then I don't care if it sounds like open...

    Help Electrical Problem

If I understand your wire routing correctly, there is nothing wrong with that approach. I have the same set up. On my car, the battery in the trunk goes to a cut-off switch, and then to the underside of the fake battery's positive terminal. The fake Autolite battery positive terminal then...

    Electrical wizards, I need advice

Agree with the general consensus (and the wiring diagram) that the ignition circuit should not only be its own circuit, but it shouldn't have a fuse to blow in the first place. I've been running Duraspark ignitions in early Mustangs since the 80s. I always cut the brown wire coming from the...

    Renting a car hoist???????

+1. I do this frequently as I'm constantly adding stuff or altering the design of something. It's dirt cheap and after a while it's not so painful.

    Electrical wizards, I need advice

You have to start by getting a voltmeter and a wiring diagram for your car. Trace the power from the main feed going into the dash (black w/yellow stripe on a 69) to the ignition switch and then all the way out to the coil. It sounds like the resistor wire is shorting to something and pulling...
