    The small black wire that goes to the spade connection on your solenoid takes a 12V power that triggers the starter, not ground. (Atleast it sounded like you said you grounded that wire)

    Changed starter, hooked up battery, car jumped forward.

    if the little blade connection gets power, it'll turn the starter over.. So it sounds like your starter was bad internally, and allowed the wires to touch.

    I think the 03+ Explorers came with an Eaton 31 spline rear.. Someone else can chime in on that though.

    Poor ride quality

    I ran the H&R Race springs with the Tokiko 5 way's set on 5, and I loved it. It was smooth and rode far better than my stock 89 Convert. Set on 2 or 1, the ride was waaay too soft for me, it'd nosedive while braking etc.. Good for the strip, but that's it. Not sure what your cars issue...
