    IIRC the bracket is the same no matter which pedal is used, the difference is where the pedal rod attachment on the new pedal is, which i think is lower down on the power pedal but the pivot point on the pedal is in the same place. so you should be able to install the new pedal in the same place...

    what exactly makes a classic car "not practical"? just bacause it may not have the safety features of cars made in the last 10-15 years does not necessarily mean it isn't practical. in my mind it would have to be pretty wild and hairy in terms of driveability, gas mileage, braking, handling, etc...
