    Springs are important but the real question is how much lift your pistons will take. Make sure you check the PTV clearance with any cam over .500 lift.

    How do you tell the difference between the old and new stlye of FRPP headers? I bought a nice used set. Guy said they were the new style but I would like to be sure. Haven't had time to insrall them yet.

    You can use a timing light to set the timing. Just remember to unplug the spout conector before you do it and plug the spout connector back in when you are done. Congrats on the new toy!!

    Did you check the test connector connections? Is teh ground wire clean and tight? What method are you using to pull codes? Have you tried a different code reader? A 90 harness will only work on a 90, BTDT. If you are changing harnesses you need one out of an 88 or 89. Any other year...

    Wiring Harness from and 89 to a 90 - Searched

    Only a 90 harness will work on a 90. An 89 will not work. Installed an 89 harness that was supposed to be a 90 harness. Car would not run. Had to rip the whole thing out and start over with a true 90. Been there done that. Save yourself a ton of headaches. Get a 90 harness.

    Check the fuel pump. How old is it? How many miles on it? Mine did the same thing and it was a bad fuel pump. Had to get it towed too!

    A good black paint job is $5-$6k. The body has to be perfect for it to look right. IMO, If you want a black car, buy one that is originally black. It's a lot easier. Congrats on the find!!!

    Airing of greavences!!

    Car had a slightly choppy idle but ran ok when you got on it. PO said it had an HP cam in it. When I dug into, it had a non-HO cam in it. :( :bang:

    GT-40P heads are a good suggestion but you are probably going to need a set of "p" specific headers to clear the spark plugs with them. If you go with a set of standard GT-40 heads, you could definitely re-use your existing headers and stay within your budget.
