    Shackles

What I did was to cut a small hole with a dremel cutter in the inside of the well which it didn't clear ... just big enough to thread the bolt into and it wen't in OK then. The metal isn't too thick there and if you are able to do a real neat circle you can fit a grommet there to keep out...

export brace fitment ... probably a dumb question !!

I guess so ... I mean really here I can say I drive an import with a tuned engine and body mods with a loud exhaust ... a bit *ricey* sounding or Paella as we call it here

export brace fitment ... probably a dumb question !!

I think the problem is the thing isn't made correctly .... it does fit between the towers ok, both when on the ground and when up on jackstands. I had the same trouble with the repro outer shock covers which I had to make fit a bolt at a time and using a big philips screwdriver to force the...

export brace fitment ... probably a dumb question !!

Thanks for the info ... although I am dreading the installation .... I just know it will be a really bad fit. I have just tried to fit the m/c bar and the fit (distance wise) between the shock towers is OK it is just that the bolt holes don't line up ... I put the 2 top bolts on and tightened...

export brace fitment ... probably a dumb question !!

I've just got a chrome export brace and monte carlo bar for my 65 f/b. I have never seen a car *in the flesh* so to speak, with an export brace fitted and just want to know if I remove, or leave in place the existing braces from the firewall to shock towers ... also if I do leave them will I...

Carb Spacer ... is it needed ??

The spacer is one with 2 oval ports which I think is the correct one for the intake .... which is a dual plane type.

Carb Spacer ... is it needed ??

I have just got a shiny new speed demon 650 carb with mech secondaries which I will be installing in the morning. The present set-up is a 600 holley on a weiand stealth manifold, but has a half inch edelbrock wooden spacer. Should I use this with the new carb, or am I better just plonking the...

    Wired fastback

I am just contemplating re-wiring my 65 fastback .... ie making the looms myself. Any ideas if the connectors are available and if so where from (the ones that go through the firewall etc.) I would like to replace all these rather than cut the existing wires short and connect new wire. Any...

    Tail shaft removal

Sorry I meant that I need to remove the tailshaft housing .... not the actual tailshaft. I should have read my post a little better before uploading it. The leak is from the joint between the tailshaft and box, and I'm sure that it is the gasket at fault. Will I just need to remove the rear...

    Tail shaft removal

Hi all Does anyone know if it possible to remove the tailshaft with the tranny in situ? It is a 4 speed top loader which has developed a slight leak on the joint from the box to tailshaft. I have nipped up the bottom 3 bolts to try and stop it, but the top 2 are really tucked away at the top...

Fitting a Monte Carlo Bar & Exp. brace

Hi all Just wondering if anyone can tell me if a curved Monte carlo bar will clear both an MSD billet distributor and the oblong Edelbrock breather on an Edelbrock elite valve cover ??? The breather seems to stick up quite high. Also do I just use the existing bolts (are they long enough) to...

HP Guesstimates for this combo ... In Spain

Oh dear !! I never really thought of replacing them :nonono: . I was originally just rebuilding the engine to the same specs as it already was, but as things progressed I have added more performance items as I have gone along. ... new heads, cam, carb etc. So if you think that is the best...

HP Guesstimates for this combo ... In Spain

Hi .... thanks for the reply. The head gaskets I used were Felpro 1011-1 ... these were the ones that Summit recommended. I used the original rod bolts on the rebuild ... also the original 7/16 head bolts with trick flow 1/2 inch sleeves. I torqued them all up to 70 Fp. then the top ones to 80 Fp.

HP Guesstimates for this combo ... In Spain

Hi there all This posting isn't because I can't be bothered taking the car to a dyno shop ... I have tried to locate one here in Spain and don't seem to be able to find one, or even find a garage that knows what I mean !! I would be grateful if any of you could *guesstimate* the HP at the...

Help with roller rocker setting up.

CORRECT !! :nonono: What a fool I am .... that is what becomes of being in a hurry to get the car back on the road ... more haste less speed !!!

Help with roller rocker setting up.

I have just put a pair of performer rpm heads on my 289 together with a set of roller rockers ... the thing is I am having problems setting the lash on this. I have set them by each cylinder at tdc on the power stroke, taking up the lash, then giving them another half turn. after doing them all...

    Inlet & carb choices

Thanks for the advice DB. I think I will be sticking with the Weiand and the Holley, but like you suggested get a few parts to tune it ... this is really what I prefer doing ... messing around taking things apart and putting them back together (then seeing how many bits are left over). It isn't...

    Inlet & carb choices

Hi there Inlet is only a bit of *UK Speak* we can call it what we want, but would you say that I would be as good keeping this old carb rather than replacing it ?? I know that you can't possibly know the wear or useage, but wouldn't I be better with a new carb ??

    Inlet & carb choices

Intake & carb choices I am just ordering a pair of Edelbrock RPM heads. At the moment I have a Weiand 180 intake manifold ... which I think is an old version of the Stealth. I am thinking of a new intake and carb .. the present Holley 600 has been rebuilt, but is a bit old. Would I be better...

question about grant steering wheels and turn signal switches

When I fitted the kit to my 65 I just left the bits off and now *cancel by hand* (they aren't really into indicators here in Spain anyway :) ) It just gives you a little more involvement in the classic driving experience.
