    A new three-link by Lateral-Dynamics

Looking at the Evo setup they need to define what they mean by "no problem" with an over-the-axle exhaust. The upper lateral link is definitely going to interfere with any off-the-shelf over-the-axle tailpipe, and the diagonal bracing looks like it will interfere with a tailpipe running...

    need some front end help

It doesn't matter too much, but 7/16 to 1/2 inch would be huge. Once you get your upper and lower control arms and spindle in place, but before you tighten the UCA's bolts to the shock towers and before you install the springs, mount the tire and jack the assembly up to where it looks like ride...

    engine upgrades

I thought a 347 was a bad idea with a 289 block, because the cylinder skirts don't extend as far as with the 302. Is this not so? If not, who has a good deal on a 347 kit for a 289?

Wheels in the Restomod daze magazine

American Racing makes some Minilite clones now too: http://www.americanracing.com/wheels/details.asp?wheelid=196&name=Silverstone%20Custom%20Offset&style=401&desc=2-piece%20painted%20center,%20polished%20rim&section=V The orginal Minilite brand rims are also still available...

    Well, it didn't sell

I think I did. At least I was trying. What I posted in substance is that the guy with the AFR's and a generic forged-pistons 5.0 in his '67-'68 would be looking at about $4900 to install your kit. The guy (like me) starting with an OE C code 289 (with a bulls#!t dual plane and Ebok carb)...

think i just trashed my 289

I'm having a little trouble following along, but I like the idea that the non-ferrous filings in your oil may be from the front cover. That's because I would look at what you changed from the last time you had a quiet running 3000 mile engine, and one of those things is the camshaft. The new...

think i just trashed my 289

Here's something I posted to the Vintage Mustang Forum on June 16. Sorry about the giant hijacking of the thread: The grapevine's been buzzing a little bit lately with the idea that modern oils are lacking in zinc and phosphorous, to the detriment of old flat tappet cam equipped engines...

    351 cleveland emblem

This doesn't answer your question, but I put these on the fenders of my '70 Cougar: http://www.cobraspares.com/images/cse351c.gif The base '70 Cougar came with no engine callouts and I thought it deserved one. I got mine at Tony Branda, but that was many years ago. The link above is from...

think i just trashed my 289

From the OP: Although I don't understand the putting the magnet in a glove part, I understand this statement to mean that the filings in the oil are non-ferrous.

think i just trashed my 289

Unless your cam and lifters are made of aluminum I would not expect a flat cam. Since the bottom end had 3000 miles on it I would not expect a bearing prob. So think about it, what about this combo is new and is made of aluminum? That's where I'd look, at the new AFR heads.

    Edelbrock carb challenge

That's what the float does, whether it's a Holley, an Edelbrock AFB, or a Quadrajet. The float controls the needle, which sits in the seat. The needle and seat control the flow of fuel from the external fuel line. Take the lid off your toilet and flush it and you'll see the same thing in action.

    Well, it didn't sell

At the risk of beating a dead horse, I forgot to add to my previous post's "whiteboard" list of add-on costs, the cost of a new hood to clear the turbo plumbing. A "cowl induction" hood from Maier Racing goes for about $500 once you factor in shipping etc. I don't know if it would even work...

lowering rear of car w/o blocks (long)

You should not have any rubbing no matter how compressed the suspension is. I like your question, though, because it seems to me that the auxiliary springs will subtract spring rate. When compression occurs, the force is pushing against the arch of the main leaf and all the leafs below it...

lowering rear of car w/o blocks (long)

I was inspired by this thread to do this mod on my kids' '65, when two sets of "one inch lowering" springs -- one set a 4-leaf "mid-eye" from Mustangs Plus, the other a 4-leaf 153# Eaton set from NPD -- gave it the 4x4 look. I looked high and low for those U-bolt clamps like Opentracker has...

    TCP Rack, Randalls, Flaming River?

    ignition problems..

If you have a key, insert it and turn it in the lock to "ACC." Insert a paper clip into the tiny round hole and push against the spring loading. Pull on the key and the lock cylinder comes out. Reach inside the dash and push the switch body toward the dash against the spring loading, and turn...

    351C intake gasket problems

That's true, a good driveway warmup will crutch cold start problems. But if you live in a neighborhood with 38 x 100 lots and your car has tube headers, eight year old (=blown out) Flow 40's, and no crossover, you're neighbors aren't going to like it at 7:00 in the a.m., or ever. :(

    Congrats to Opentracker (again!)

Hi John. With those UCA's, is there a reason you don't move the spring perch mount out, as you did on some prototype pieces? Did you decide that this mod has no benefit, or is a vintage racing deal?
