    kind of hard to diagnose noise over the internet. The bearing could be making noise after it gets hot (expands) If it's going bad, you could jack it up and check the in and out motion on that wheel . HTH

    I would recommend doing the throttle cable mod - a small piece of hollow aluminum on the throttle cable end - sometimes the carpet interferes with full throttle movement.

    I dunno - I go to the track a lot , and it seems those numbers are fairly typical for the '98 s. The PI 99's up are a mite faster , but I look at things from the total package ( handling, creature comforts, gas mileage. So he (you) have nothing to be ashamed of... Have fun.

    Supposedly, the 4.6 engines have a patented oil cooling system built-in. Don't have or haven't seen any details on this, yet. I'd be interested in a relo kit, but the ones I saw in Jeg's (your link) and Summit all specify the Fram filters. I wonder if they use NPT fittings or not ?

    This should make you feel better - $ 2000 for wifey's Camry when the A/C compressor locked up. The A/C parts have always been expensive , dunno why.

    The access cover is just to the rear of the bellhousing/block juncture, slightly toward the driver's side. It is held on by one 10mm screw.     Usually, water gets into the switch when the widow is down even a hair - they are cheap and easy to replace (well they are cheap if your dealer doesn't need new sails for his yacht) I have had the driver's side and pass side go bad on me already.

    Good thinking ! All that "mung" cleared out by the seafoam has to go somewhere. Ususally, the oil pump and/or passages. The carbon won't burn. So, where does it go ? Not in the smoke, for sure.

    I have heard a lot of good things about this product , and nothing bad so far. I guess I question where the carbon and gunk goes ? You stated you saw a lot of white smoke. Did a lot of greasy gunk come out of the tailpipe ? Or, is the stuff now mixed up in the crankcase oil ?

    AT 105K , I wouldn't be worried about the engine internals as much as I would about the service wear items such as clutch, water pump, alternator, etc. Plus, the electrics (windows , switches and door locks, etc.). And, IAC sensor/valve, plugs, coolant, hoses and belt, blah,blah. These things...
