    Tensioner pulley making tiny chirp?

Randy's info is spot on. I started with a little chirp, and ended with a fairly constant squeal, especially inder load. I knew it wasn't the belt because mine was really fresh. The kit you can get (through Randy) has the steel tensioner arm and a new tensioner pulley attached (plus belt)...

    P1443.. What does it mean?

I had that code once or twice a long time ago. It was caused by the gas cap(loose). I just reset the code and never saw the code again. HTH

    Am I running hot?

One key comment - you said you were running without the heat or a/c. Are you sure the electric fan right behind the radiator is coming on ? I know when I run my a/c , that fan is on just about all the time...

    Engine Ping

Yeah, long term owner here . You have a stick or automatic ? I have a stick, and in situations such as leaving a toll booth while still rolling , found that dropping down a gear or two put the engine back into its what I call (non-lugging mode) Drop it down a gear or two, you are not gonna blow...

    Serpentine Belt after 27k?

Don't feel bad - my last belt (bought at NAPA, usually good stuff) lasted 6K miles !! I installed the CarQuest (greenstripe belt ) just last week. The original Ford belt lasted the longest, but I just can't stand paying triple retail at the local Ford "stealership" - they don't make the belts...

    Squeaky throwout bearing ?

There's a long way between the TOB and the clutch surface , which faces the flywheel, and is obscured by the pressure plate anyway. Some folks may not have a garage and/or lift (such as me !) , so I'm advising the simplest solution imaginable. Which worked for me, but I do understand that...

    Squeaky throwout bearing ?

aarrghh they removed my post - used to be in a tech sticky ... Anyhow, jack up the car and crawl under the trans. In the front, slightly toward the driver's side, you will see a "tin" cover. Remove the 10mm retaining bolt and remove the cover. Shine a good flashlight up in there, and spray the...

    Stangnet Load times

On a positive note - at least Stangnet is running Linux/Apache now instead of that lame Micro$oft crap.

    Stangnet Load times

Lately, the loading time for these Stangnet forums are atrocious. And, I am on a fast broadband connection. I know this site operates on ad revenue , but the crap delays I get from "burstnet", and "google analytics" and others, suck. How about fixing this issue ?

    Squeaky throwout bearing ?

Do a search for how I fixed the TOB squeak. 20 minutes and 3 bucks for some Lithium grease. And you don't have to pull the freaking tranny . Sheesh - what do you have to lose ? Some of these "helpful hinters" love to spend other's time and money.

Well said , mrvax ! When I alluded to the "snake oil aspect" of Seafoam , I got lynched. Thanks for the lesson in how to be subtle.

    Did the Gas pedal mod.

I've had this mod for over 3 years and 50K miles. I have the "high zoot" aluminum spacer ( $5 IIRC) Anyway, there is still a disgusting amount of slack in the cable. I do not think the cable is going to be strectched anywhere near its limits. And how about the fact that the carpet actually...

1500 miles on oil/12 months. Time to change?

Hmm, I did know that was very true for the old carburetted engines (gasoline washing the cylinder walls , and removing the oil film until the engine reached operating temp) So, the fuel-injected engines are also dumping too much fuel after startup? Is that an "open loop" issue, svttech ...

how do you add gear fluid????

I found an easier way to fill/add gear oil. On the passenger side axle tube, there is a ventcap that can be removed with a 15mm wrench. I take that cap off , then thread the plastic tube from my 6 dollar "outboard gear oil" pump into the hole and fill that way. Less messy than filling...

How Can I get Orange Peel OFF of Newly Painted Front Bumper?

It is very easy to get orange peel with the clear coat. What I do is wetsand with 1500 grit sandpaper. Keep the sandpaper wet while doing this . There should be lots of whitish substance removed. You will have to get a "feel" for when you are finished, but I look for a dull finsh with no...

    bad TOB?? help

Well, I cured my TOB squeak with an application of quality lithium grease to the TOB ID (inside diameter) and the shaft it rides on. YMMV if you live on the beach or in the desert, or drive through flooded streets... Worth a try.

    3200 Stall enough?

I would (If I were you) 1. Call up some of the major TQ Converter guys and describe what you have, what your goals are ( ex. better 60 foot times), and ask them what they recommend. 2. Ask them if they have a stall/torque dyno ? You (in the car ) cannot measure this. The values will run...

Modifications to stock converter (kinda long read)

Ask the converter guys if they have a stall/torque dyno - there is no way to measure stall/torque ratio on the car. Remember, once the converter i sbuilt, there is no way to "look inside" to see if they did a good job or not. Kinda like "blind faith".

Help! Cant get fluid back in rear end!?!?

Here's a "trick" for ya ! Look over to the right of the pumpkin, and you will see a "vent cap" on the axle tube.. Grab a 15mm open end and unscrew it. Get a "marine gear transfer pump" from Wally mart, screw it into the gear lube bottles and pump away ! You are welcome !:nice:
