What is a safe redline? 289

Wouldn't you want to rev a bit OVER the peak of the curve, so when you shift you are still in the powerband?

do i need a new cam and lifters?

Usually the lifter stops spinning in the bore, and the cam grinds away on it. I just did a cam swap on my friend's 350 chev saturday and sunday because of a wiped lobe. The lifter was majorly dished in too. 24 Hours to Re-and-Re lifters and cam in a 350 in a Jeep YJ... Fun.

Engine start-up after long 6 month sleep?

I just disconnect the distributor and turn it over with the starter a bit before firing it right up.

    Nice engine bay - restomod

Nice, I'm not big on the yellow block though. I think it would have looked better if the block was the same colour as the car.

    Barry Grant demon carbs..anyone using?

I understand, I wasn't talking about you specifically, I was speaking in general. There is no excuse for bad customer service and quality control.

    Barry Grant demon carbs..anyone using?

My Speed Demon 650V has been running relatively well lately. I went 2 steps leaner on the jets on both the primary and secondary side, and played with pump cams. It had a few hiccups when new (flooding float bowls and slight tip in stumble, same as a number of people had). But i'm...

    Gear ratios and dynotuning?

I wanted to build up the 9" I got for my car with 3.50 gears, but because I'm going to be taking a 2 month trip to Europe this summer, I don't have the funds to build it for this summer. I wanted to know if I could dynotune my car with the 2.80 gears and put the 3.50 gears in later, or will...

    kilometer sticker

I grew up with Km/h, and I get by just fine with the Mph on my speedo haha. After a while, you start doing the conversion automatically in your head without even realizing it.

    Demon troubles!!!!

My demon had the float flooding problem as well, barely made it home one night. I just took the needle and seat out, sprayed it with carb cleaner, put it back in and never had that problem since. I agree for a carb that is *supposed* to be better than a holley, you'd think they would have...

    do not use synthetic oil

I used to use Mobil 1, but I change the oil so often, and drive my car so little it's not worth it. Just regular Pennzoil 20w50 for me.

    B&M Transpak kit for C4?

The transmission already has a Shift improver kit put in by the previous owner, but I want something with a bit more control, something that shifts more like modern day trannies.

    B&M Transpak kit for C4?

Who has experience with them? Is it something I can install myself (I've never taken an auto tranny apart before), without pulling the tranny? Do they work as well as they say? Does it make the C4 downshift at any speed, and hold the gear to any speed? If it's not too difficult, I think I...

:nonono: Lowering - Gift from above OR SIN?

I want to lower mine but I just realized that I may have trouble getting up onto my driveway, for some reason even stock cars bottom out on it, the city built it at a stupid angle.

Deep aluminum trans. pans for C4's

I've decided to go with the B&M. I found out it's only $139 (canadian) at the local performance parts place. For some reason it's cheaper than the TCI version, which is weird because on all the online parts places (Jegs and summit) they want more money for the B&M (Around $150 U.S.) and less...

Might as well start a thread - Maybe trading the 65 for a Contemporary Classic cobra

I dunno, granted it's fast, but that cobra is probably one of the ugliest ones i've seen around.

Those of you with MSD distributors....

I am running the two blue medium springs, and the stock 21* stop bushing. With 14* initial I should have 35* total timing. No pinging when I'm blasting through the gears. I have yet to go on a dyno to tweak further. I think the vacuum advance is causing my car to ping while cruising on...

how hig can you rev a 289?

I don't know of many (actually none) hydraulic cams that will rev to 7000.
