    no, you need to take it off. bench bleed it on the bench. you need to get the full stroke of the piston in the m/c

    the bearing inside the input shaft where it meets the main shaft is a tapered roller brg on a z spec or otherwise.

    to the OP: you are correct the z spec and the 93 cobra are the only t5s that use a tapered bearing between the input shaft and the main shaft. take the input shaft off and if it is not one of these you will have needle bearings that fall out, instead of a tapered bearing race.

    check to make sure your timing is right, fuel pressure is good, and floats are adjusted first. after that pull the pugs and see how they look

    if you are worried about stock appearance why did you go with an RRS front end? you can bolt stuff on your motor and put the stock stuff on the shelf, just like the suspension. I don't understand how you would desire stock appearance in one category but not stock appearance in another :)
