Setting timing, worried about not hearing pinging

I have a 6psi supercharger and timing is currently at 10 degrees. I've set it 12 degrees and it made more power on the dyno but I've since had a leaky head gasket. I'm not sure if it was too much timing or not letting the engine warm up fully before beating on it that caused the leak. I'd like...

T5 rebuild question: dog ring or synchronized gears

I had to the opportunity to drive our company racecar with a Jerico 4-speed and that had to be the most violent shifts I have ever experienced. The transmission literally pulls itself into engagement of the next gear because of the undercut of the dog rings. It shifts as fast as you can pull the...

    Rack & Pinion Question

Bump steer is really a seperate issue. I understand that the resistance is reduced when rolling but its more a lack of precision in the steering when you may need it most, whether its high-performance driving, panic situation or as you stated, "unless you hit a curb or a monstrous pothole"...

    Rack & Pinion Question

This is correct. The wider the centerlink mounts the less leverage the tie rods have in directing off axis forces. Just like standing with your feet spread for a wide stance, you're more stable.

    Rack & Pinion Question

 Not to thread jack but I found your statements to be very alarming. I've always pointed out the broadly spread mounting points of the TCP centerlink as an improvement over other rack conversions but your examples couldn't have stated it better. If you guys are seeing things bend/flex in...

    Total Control Products Rack Questions??

Rack and pinion offers a more direct transfer of motion/energy in that the steering shaft directly drives the rack gear/shaft and centerlink. If the rack system used the same overall steering ratio as the factory steering box, drag link setup the rack would require less effort to turn. The TCP...

    Total Control Products Rack Questions??

The installation of the TCP power rack is identical to the manual with the following exceptions. Steering shaft between u-joints is cut to a shorter length. Pump is mounted to the driver side cylinder head. Hydraulic hoses and ends must be custom fit and assembled. (masking tape, cut off...

    69/70 Mustang Taurus Rack Installation?

Finding a 'correct' OEM rack for a classic Mustang is... I don't want to say impossible but I'll say it hasn't been built yet. The majority of mass produced racks are end-take-off designs for newer cars. Generally newer vehicles will have shorter steering arms and therefore require less rack...

TCP Power Rack in 70 Mustang P/S Pump Brackets needed

I just read your last post. You can disregard the following. ------------------------------ Our salesman asked me about this earlier today and it appears we had a bit of miscommunication on our end. My personal apologies for the confusion. We do sell the bracket set you are looking for...

    Benefit of shelby drop?

Lowering the mounting position of the upper control arm makes the following improvements over the stock position; quicker negative camber gain, higher roll center, lower center of gravity and reduced roll rate. The lower mounting position at the shock tower places the upper arm at an inclined...

    carbon fiber valve covers

We used to sell these at work but at $400 plus a set they didn't sell very well so we discontinued them. There was a company manufacturing them for us but I have a feeling they went out of business. Their website has been down for over a year and the owner was really flakey on returning calls...

    Strut Conversion

Space is also another reason that OEMs have adopted the strut suspension. The upper control arm presents an intrusion into the engine compartment. If room is available for a SLA then I feel it is the better choice for greater design flexibility. A few manufactures have even introduced SLA...

    Starter Problems

Recently my starter would continue to run after the key has been turned off. I replaced both the starter and the fender mounted solenoid/relay. It did it again yesterday which resulted in me having to disconnect the cable at the solenoid that runs to the starter because the solenoid started to...
