    You can use either a mechanic's stethoscope to pinpoint it, or a fog/smoke machine. It's most likely the header bolts, those are notorious for backing loose, except you said you checked them, so I'm not gonna say for sure.

    I too am wondering this. One usually does not blow a HG under light load conditions (pulling into a parking lot). Just take the whole smog system off and run a short belt, that's easiest and cheapest.

    Like bimmertech said, an exhaust leak will get louder as the engine load is increased. It's not 100% dependent on engine speed either. So if you mash the throttle at 30mph in 5th gear, if it gets louder, it's probably an exhaust leak. FWIW, they can "go away" once the motor warms up. As metal...
