What radio options avail in 67 Mustang?

The 8-track AM/FM was an option, I don't think it required any specific trim level. I do think, though, that that option would have come with door speakers...so that may be a clue as to the originality of the unit. If you decide it isn't...I'll trade you my all-original and fully operational...

what do you think of these wheels for '67?

Those last two posts say what I was trying to, with a bit more eloquence.

what do you think of these wheels for '67?

Your car so do what you like...my personal taste runs more towards the period-style wheels. Those look a little rice burner racecar wannabe-ish to me. But maybe I'm old and stuck...

Getting a small whiff of Gas smell in car..what to do ?

I had a gas smell in my '67 coupe that turned out to be a brittle and slightly leaky tank-to-filler cap hose (leaking into the trunk...that's good for peace of mind). Couldn't see the cracks until I removed it, but replacing it cured the smell.

    Seat Upholstery....how do I......?

Cut the rings but not the listing wire (runs through the seat) unless you are planning to replace it. I think I did actually use a small set of bolt cutters but had to break out the wire cutters for a few that were hard to get to.

    289 302 351

From your comments, you sound kind of new to the hobby, if I'm mistaken forgive the assumption. Here are some thoughts: A 390, while the factory big-block option, is heavy, inefficient, and difficult to find parts for compared to the 302/351W. A 302 and a 289 are basically the same engine...

67 hood: repro vs original tooling?

I've had both, and they both fit (someone ran a light and crushed the Ford tooling turn signal hood, and I replaced it with a repop). Fit was fine except that I had to enlarge a couple of the holes for the signal bodies to lie down flat. The only other thing that I noticed was that the sheet...

    speedometer and larger rims

You do have to get a second speedometer, though, if you get the 17" "spinnazzz". :rlaugh:

    Timing Explanation

The reason timing is important is, at the risk of sounding flippant, all about the timing. The car runs better when it is right because the mixture is burning at the point that it exerts the most efficient pressure on the piston. When it's too early, it can be burning when it should be pulling...

    Timing Explanation

You're right, of course. I got hung up on vacuum advance from reading the earlier posts.

    Timing Explanation

Initial timing + vacuum advance = total advance. Too much total advance = knock. So if you add one, you may need to subtract from the other (or run higher octane gas). SBF do like slightly advanced (initial) timing over the way they came from the factory. Better throttle resonse, pep, and a...

    help please

Personal preference...which do you want? No way a T-5 lives long behind a big block, so it's either the toploader (no O/D) or a TKO ($$$). Typcially autos will handle a little more power and take it a little easier on other driveline components because the torque converter absorbs some of the...

    Manual vs. Power Brakes

Effectiveness -- huge especially with disks (drums actually "boost" themselves a little via inertia when applied). But non-power setups will come with different sized master cylinder and reconfigured pedels to give you a little more help. For what it's worth, I've never heard of a non-power disk...

    remove rear seat anyone?

I have seen a coupe or two with the rear seats removed and stereo equipment installed (magazine and shows, so they were well-done). You could do something similar, or put in a tool kit/fire ext/whatever other gadget would suit your interest and the theme of your car, building a nice "cabinet" to...

    Early head info 289/302/351W

I'm with Max Power...I had some significant valve seat recession in my bone stock C code 289. Replaced with 5.0 heads at the time (cheap & quick). IMO, it's cheap insurance if you're running the older heads.

    Tachometer Question.....

I had a guy in Greenville, SC do mine and he charged me $100. I think he (and probably others) can do a conversion on them to upgrade the electronics to something a little more modern, but I didn't need ultra-accuracy and I don't know how much that would cost. website...

Lights don't work on instrument cluster

My 67 dash doesn't have the dedicated ground wire, the mounting screws provide ample ground. Having said that, someone may have circumvented that original wire in the last 40 years or so.

    1968 8 K tach question ??

I found mine on eBay, but you'll have to be very patient to avoid paying way too much. Like $800-$1200 worth of too much. I ended up buying a few different peices and cobbling it together for my 67 rather than shelling out big bucks for a complete cluster.

Curious how much power it takes to get a 67/68's front wheels off the ground?

I just did it last week with no horsepower...just mepower and a jack.
