    What you should have done was run the car up to normal temps and wrote down where the needles were then take it apart, pop the needles off and put the white faces on. then start the car back up and let it come back to normal temps and put the gas, battery, oil pressure,tach and water temp...

    Mine is going to sleep at the end of the month. I have a 97 S10 to drive in the winter. I just pump the tires up really good, disconnect the neg battery cable, fill the tank up and add a little sta-bil to the gas to keep it fresh. I am not really sure how hard it is on the engine the first time...

    Check your owners manual for the maintenance schedule...It will tell you what needs to be done and at what mileage. The most important thing is changing your oil and filter every 3000 miles & keeping the exterior clean and protected. Seeing how you live in NYC you should have a winter beater so...

    Your 1st mistake was taking it to a car wash. The wands even on low put out way to much pressure and you probably drove some water into a connector. I do mine about every 3 months. You need to find a friend who owns a house and has a gerden hose. It only takes a fine mist to wet it and rinse it...
