Advice on my new Stang. $6k to spend!!

I haven't heard of anyone cracking these blocks, four bolt mains with the side bolts, just a solid design over all. I think to kill it you'd have to be pushing over 1000 hp. Most of these blocks die from a rod going out side. Dan

Advice on my new Stang. $6k to spend!!

Heh, chad you seem to be pretty down on these supercharging folks. I'll give you the gages, though they aren't 100% necessary just very highly recommended. The rest of those you will need for a given power level, regardless of how you get that power. Depending on your goals you don't...

    Best swaybar setup for GT?

There is a decent amount of flex in the stock front swaybar setup, eliminating that with stiffer bushings and possibly replacing the end links would go a long way. Dan

    Best swaybar setup for GT?

The swaybar shouldn't effect ride quality too much. The better endlinks may transfer more NHV, but I doubt much more. Mostly, you'll improve body roll, but you won't improve brake dive. As for which, I would just choose a set from someone, I like to keep front/rear parts from the same...

    N/A or Blown?

The supercharger is going to give you a better power band than N/A, but N/A is fun just because you get to laugh at the people who used a supercharger to get where you are. 450 rwhp probably won't be possible NA, not without a few more cubes. Dan

    thinking about a supercharger

I plan on getting a set soon, and painting them to get rid of the logo:D

    thinking about a supercharger

DiMora, I agree, the Saleen has it's limitations. The heat exchanger in the manifold is smaller than some of the others, which I think is mostly a product of their manifold design. Also the stock snout is not very efficient, the super shaker improves on it but it's still not the best. It's not...

High beam stalk issue - FTP

One of a few things on these cars that is truly bassackwards.... And considering ford was/is in trouble I'd imagine they recycled every bit from the old mustang they could. Dan

    thinking about a supercharger

The TVS and the Saleen blowers are both 2.3L, IIRC. The saleen should be at least as efficient, or more, being a TS design. With a pulley change on the Saleen you can make ~7, 9, 11, or more PSI, at 11 you'd push 500 RWHP with the right supporting mods, more with all of the bolt-ons. The most...

    Glowing Headers

I should mention, my headers are non-coated t-304 stainless with about 1/8 thickness (guessing a bit here). The measurement was maid with a digital pyrometer at ~10" on four primaries, two per side. Dan

    Glowing Headers

After driving on the highway, at 70ish, and pulling off my LTs are ~250 degrees F. Glowing is in the range of 1000+ depending on the color, IIRC. Dan

How many Motor Mounts do I need?

There are two motor mounts that need to be replaced, one on either side. Any kit (steeda, prothane) will work fine and will take a lot of the shake out of the motor but puts it in the car. Dan

Questions about the S-197 2005+ GTs

    1. Almost certainly not. 2. With a manual likely, but dependent on the headers. I'm pretty sure I could with mine. 3. I would give D&D a call, link 4. For ultimate power, the Whipple or KB are it, the KB mammoth is the biggest (2.8L). Saleen is a good unit, but will max out at ~650 RWHP. The...

    HELP!!! STRUT TOWER BOLT SHEARED

If you took the mount off, found the correct stud size, thread pitch, and length, got a new stud and drilled out the old one, press in the new stud. For $60 I'd just buy new mounts as apposed to doing all that work. I would check that torque wrench before using it again. Dan

    Cabin Air Filter Install

I said no simply because there are others out there (first link on a google search), and that it's a 30 second install that I could teach my 4 year old nephew to do. You're write ups are some of the best, bigcat, so if you feel like sapping a few photos, I guess why not. Dan
