Need to find a replacement part...

You may be able to find one at a junk yard, but odds are it will be cracked as well. The part is also more commonly referred to as a cowl. It might help in your search. Good luck :nice:

    Gear Install

Some other things to consider... take note of their hourly rate. look for quality level of shop. Some have to send parts out to have bearings pressed on or off cause they don't have the equipment. ask them if they have the proper tools and skill set for adjusting the backlash. inspect the...

    NEED HELP

Not sure where you live, but if the car was not bought "as is" there may be some recourse through some type of "lemon" law. Aside from what you are describing, it sounds like chatter. Could be bearings (as suggested) could also be a worn out clutch plate. Good luck :nice:

    rear end pinion nose weight

Don't throw it out just yet. If you take it off and, after driving a while, notice a vibration or noise in the drive line, you may need to put it back on. Just set it in the garage or shed some where and see how things go for a while.

Help Please! 8.8" Axle 8mm Bolt

If you have a welder, I've heard stories of people welding their socket to the stripped bolthead. I would only suggest this as a last resort as you will probably have to replace both the bolt and the socket once removed.

    Need help locating a gasket

Final Result It was the rear bearings without a doubt. The differential unit and the ring/pinion gears are unharmed (thankfully). The bearing raceways were pitted and heavily damaged from the bearings. I'd be willing to bet that if I was not as in-tune with my car or just ignored it, that...

    Need help locating a gasket

Hopefully if the bearings come in by 1:00 I will go home in it. I Already have the FRPP 3:73s :nice: If my ring and pinion are F'ed, I may go to 4:10s

    Need help locating a gasket

Good news ---- it's not the pinion seal Better news --- it's not the transmission Bad news ---- it's the bearings :( So they should have the parts by 1:00 and have the job done by 5:00. They have had the gears out before to replace the pinion seal, so I know they know what they are doing...

    Need help locating a gasket

Taking it in tomorrow AM. I have my statement from when they last did the work. I forgot that they replaced a leaking pinion seal. So it may be an issue again, and I am praying that it is still under service warranty.

    Need help locating a gasket

I'm going to see if I can take it to the place I always have (reputable and I trust them) I only had the car back to the dealer one time since I bought it and that was to get the genuine Ford gears put in by a licensed Ford mechanic, so they were under warranty. But all warranties on this...

    Need help locating a gasket

If it is the rear gears, what would cause the whine?? They did not have to remove them (so no need to reset backlash), all they did was a fluid exchange and new seal. Would lack of friction modifier cause it, and if so, wouldn't it have been making noise much sooner?

    Need help locating a gasket

Yes, the pitch changes on acceleration and deceleration. It only does so while the car is in motion. I had the local Ford dealership put in FRPP 3:73s over 5 years ago and have recently (last 6 months I think) had the pumpkin drained and resealed.

    Need help locating a gasket

I'm just worried now after driving today that it might be the tranny. I have just over 100K on the clock and that's a lot. I just can't tell for sure if it is the tranny or the rear gears. It is noticeable at speeds in excess of 40 mph in 3rd, 4th, and 5th. While driving into work this...

    Need help locating a gasket

Thanks for the links. The Boot will work, but still not sure about the Isolator Bushing. I still have yet to find solid proof that it will work in a 3650. I know the one that I currently have is plastic and it does not have that flanged lip. I did manage to find a thread describing how to...

    Need help locating a gasket

Can anyone verify this Ford part... E3ZZ-7K453-A 1 PKG ( 2 pieces) There is so much misinformation out there and some say this is a 3650 direct replacement, and others say it is for T5 only.

    Need help locating a gasket

OK I've found a gasket, now I can't find 2 other items. 1. Lower rubber dust boot (mine is torn from age) 2. Plastic cup bushing that the handle sits in (usually white) any places I can look other than the dealer parts counter?

98 GT died and now will not start

Have you tried a "reset" by disconnecting the battery? It might clear the alarm/theft issue (if that is indeed the cause).

    Need help locating a gasket

I'll have to look into that when I get it pulled. The only thing I have done recently, that is out of routine, was a 640 mile road trip last weekend, but I did not notice the sound then. There are no drip marks on the driveway, so I don't think it is a fluid issue (changed last year as well as...
