01 Cobra Owners, Does anyone have.......

That means it's the FRPP driveshaft. Get the FRPP J shaft, and have it shortened and rebalanced. Before you have it cut, see if it will fit with a 1/3" clearance or so at the rear of the transmission. If you have the 03 rear, you already have an Al shaft, unless you've had the steel...

Drive line roughness after new clutch install

They're supposed to index the pressure plate to the flywheel - there's a yellow dot on the flywheel and a yellow dot on the pressure plate as supplied from the factory (or at least there should be). Other than that, it could be unevenly tightened or the throwout bearing is more than one of...

Reverse Lamps not working on 99 Cobra

That switch seems to go bad every single time the transmission is taken out of the car. I've replaced 2 in my car.

Anybody know a good way to get the gear oil out of a Cobra?

No, there isn't an easy way, unless you have one of those little hand pumps you can stick in through the fill hole. If you ever have the pumpkin out, see my website for instructions on how to drill and tap a hole to install your own drainplug on the bottom. T

    Gear Installation....

If you have a mod friendly dealer, they'll only void the warranty on the rear axle assembly. But it might cause you problems elsewhere in the drivetrain with warranty issues if you break something...they'll blame it on the gears.

Should I use friction modifier in the rear end?

See my website below - I did test several synthetic lubes with and w/o friction mod.... the only thing I can't attest to still is Redline's gear lube w/o friction mod, but I've "heard" it works fine. but yes - use friction mod, 4 oz, no matter what the gear lube mfg. tells you - just to be...

    Maintenance: How Do I......

It's not hard - really. You can do it any way you want, but make sure you displace tap water from the garden hose with distilled at the last step, and fill at the plug on the crossover pipe only (the highest point in the system). I read all these intricate directions and people whining about...

    99 Cobra making weird sound

Definitely the belt or idler or tensioner pulley. Nothing serious - just change the belt.

Reverse Lamps not working on 99 Cobra

Like I said - Take the plug off the switch. Put a pair of pliers between the contacts in the plug (i.e. connect the two wires in the plug with a metal object - not the ones on the switch). If the reverse lights come on when you short the wires in the plug to each other, it's the switch. If...

Reverse Lamps not working on 99 Cobra

How did you check the switch at the transmission? these are notorious for going bad. If you can short the wires together that go onto the terminals of the switch, and if the reverse lights come on, it's the switch. Unless you replaced it already and still no lights. Then, I dunno.

    extra cash!!!

Has KB actually decided to build the charger for the 99s? Last I heard, they were waiting for 15 volunteers to make a deposit of 500 bux and "then" they'd make the kit. And it would be build to order, and that was it.

Need opinon- Carbon Fiber Or Aluminum Driveshaft?

If you don't care about the money, go with the fiber shaft. It's lighter, so any vibration will be lessened due to the lower mass. It's not a guarantee that you won't have a vibration, however.

2003 Cobra IRS on 2001 Cobra

The differences between the 99-01 IRS and the 03 IRS have already been stated. The rear tie rod pickup point was lowered 5mm to improve the camber/toe curve at jounce. Higher durometer bushings throughout, plus the front differential brace and revised knuckles are different. The 31 spline...

    Clutch Pedal Chatter

The firewall adjuster is about 40 bucks, and the quadrant about 30 from UPR performance products. They're not too bad to install...if you can do spark plugs, you can manage these two items, and that should take care of your problem.

    Clutch Pedal Chatter

I put a new t/o bearing in to remedy this very problem and I only went another 7-8k miles before it got so irritating I had to replace the whole clutch. The problem is due to either bent/uneven pressure plate fingers, which can be caused by tightening the pressure plate unevenly when installing...

    Clutch Pedal Chatter

The chatter you're describing is the throwout bearing rotating against the pressure plate fingers. This isn't "clutch chatter", since clutch chatter refers to the grab/release/grab when engaging the clutch from a stop. Thus, what you're describing is more of a "vibration" of the clutch pedal...

Please advise: considering 99 Cobra buy. Please look->

That car does have some really cool stuff added on. I'd drive it first...make sure it doesn't smoke, vibrate, or ping. If none of the above, that's a winner.

Advised by a fellow SVT Stanger to AVOID 4.10 gears! Soo confused now, help.

If you're primarily around town, then go with the 4.10's. If you do lots of interstate driving, then go with 3.73's. I can tell from your post, that I think you'd be happier with 4.10s than 3.73s, but if you're talking about dropping it into 3rd on the interstate, you'd better stick with...

    Upgraded IRS half shafts???

The 03 shafts are stronger than the 01 shafts. I've seen 11 second runs on them, but they will eventually break if treated this way.
