    351W in a 70 Stang

performance you may find that the 73 engine has a low compression ratio, compared to earlier 351W versions. A set of higher compression (read Flat-top) pistons will remedy that, if you plan on rebuilding the engine. An aftermarket Cam/lifter/spring set will help also. you probably don't want...

To sway or not to sway?

rear sway I can only speak from my own experience, so here goes...... I upgraded the front suspension on my 70 Mach1 (Polygraphite bushings, 1-1/8" front sway bar, export brace, gas-a-just KYB's, monte-carlo bar, etc.). I Track the car on a 2.5 mile Road Course (just for fun) twice a year...

    Cleveland gurus in here!------->

Intake & stuff I beleive the intake you mentioned in your opening post only fits 4V heads. You can't use a 4V Intake on 2V heads, different port sizes, bad bad bad mismatch. I built my 351CJ to 425hp-400ft/lbs without the use of anything but Carbs & Cams. 650 DP DF Holley, Edelbrock Torker...

bought new front brakes. How'd I do?

Upgraded Rotors ...... For 67 coupe Front "ROTOTECH" Crossdrilled & Slotted Rotors $110/ea from www.muggziperformance.com No Mods, replaces factory rotor, uses stock Calipers, and does not require larger Rims. Food for thought ! Mach1steve

Disc Brake Kit...Any preferences out there?

try these guys May be less expensive, easy to install, and good feedback from Mustang owners. www.mpbrakes.com You could also do a Granada/Monarch conversion. If you can find a 1974 to 1978 Granada or Monarch at wreckers, you take the Calipers, Spindles, Rotors, etc & the Master Cyler &...

Granada Brake hardware question (not about the swap itself)

new rotors If you are interested in Crossdrilled & Slotted Rotors, I have them available for the Granada conversion. They are $170.00/pr (US) + shipping. These straight forward bolt on replacements for the factory rotor. Better cooling, better wet braking, longer life, and they look darn...

    hood clearance w/ air-gap intake

A 351W sits lower in the engine compartment than a 351C I am told. I have a 70 Mach1, which is essentially the same as far as engine compartment size. On my 351C I run a Edelbrock Torker (single plane high rise) Intake with a 650 Hollry, and 4" K&N Air Filter, with no clearance problems. Just...

What is the best for performance out of 3,4,5 or 6 speed?

Some with big bucks use a doug nash 5spd, the 6spd they put in the newer SVT Cobras isn't bad. I personally like the old 4spd Toploaders... just try and break one ! I abuse the heck out my Toploader (over 400hp) and it's now 34 years old ! Beat that ! Although I sure would love to have a 5th...

    12 to 1 compression in a 351c?

If you change to Flat-top pistons you will get 11:1 and with those quench heads & you should be Ok with 94 Oct. I run 4V Open chamber heads with forged pop-up (domed pistons) and that gives about 10.4:1 compression...... and I'm Ok with 94 Oct also, but marginally so. Adding a thicker gasket...

Stang is going to need a new motor

It just may be that the cam is so worn that you don't get much in the way of valve lift, thus the lack-luster performance. Have you have a compression test done ? Perhaps just having a stock rebuild done and maybe add a perkyer Cam would do it. 300hp isn't much to ask. there's Crate motors...

I'm an engine newbie, Help me out!

hints you don't need 7,500 rpm to make 350hp In fact, if you abuild an engine that will rev that high, then you won't have any low rpm torque, which is what gives you nice "street launches", and grunt out of the hole. I would go with a nice 280H Cam, Dual Plane Aluminum Intake, 600 or 650...

    FMX to C6....Final Decision

FMX isn't known for taking lotsa rpm's they tend to puke over 5,800 They're fine for torque but not for High Rpm's been there, done that 3 times, blew the engine once due to tranny puke could never get the 2nd to 3rd shift to click in hard, had to release the gas pedal and let it drop in...

price ? are they $99.00/each ? or $99.00/pr ? If it's $99.00/ea. that would be about right. If their $99.00/pr there must be somethin wrong with them. Mach1steve

    Need options for big brakes

less expensive option....... a cheaper option would be to upgrade your existing Rotors to a High Performance Slotted Rotor, and add a set of Performance Brake Pads like R4-S Porterfeilds. Both are available from www.muggziperformance.com total cost for this upgrade may run you $300 to $400...

wheel size question for a 66 coupe

according to the "Chart"....... The Tire chart I have says a 66 Mustang will take a 17 x 7" Front Rim with 4.25" backspace, and a 205/50-17" tire Rear you can go 17 x 8" with 4.50 backspace Rim with a max 235/45-17" tire. You may be able to go beyond these numbers with some fender rolling...
