    Offbeat project: 1966 Coupe

nice effort. i presume that is the 3.7 motor? if so, change the water pump if ti has over one hundred thousand miles on the clock to avoid bottom end issues.

Does she have a nice rear end or what?

if you can get a socket on two of the lower pumpkin bolts, its not a 9". as to whether or not its a limited slip diff, jack up one wheel, and with the trans in neutral try to turn it. if it turns easily then you have an open diff.

    302Ci Horsepower

a guy on another forum cc'ed his 87 heads and got 60.5 cc. the range seems to be 60-63cc

    302Ci Horsepower

the problem with accepting what is written about ford combustion chamber size is that often times they are wrong. so until you actually measure the chambers, you have no real idea what you have. heck it has been found that chamber volume varies not only from head to head, but cylinder to...

    302Ci Horsepower

i dont know of any stock 289 heads that have 49cc chambers, most have between 53-56cc. measure yours to be sure. smaller chambers are better because you get a better compression ratio. as for porting, yes you can pick up some power by opening up the ports. you want to match the port opening...

    Upgrading 289

what else you upgrade depends a lot on your driving style. at the very least though i would upgrade the brakes to front disc with an option of big rear drums, either the 10x2.5" or 11x2.25" set up. i prefer the latter as it has more swept area. i do recommend suspension upgrades s well...

    302Ci Horsepower

the stock heads are limiting factor here. you can get only so much flow out of the stockers. you can pick up between 20-50 hp by porting the stock heads though.

    302Ci Horsepower

without the cam specs, its hard to say what kind of power your engine is going to make. however an educated guess would be something like 175 with the average aftermarket cam and intake. but that is about it.

    Toploaders

any nine bolt top loader four speed will work fine to replace a nine bolt top cover three speed. as to the bolt pattern for the trans to bell housing mount, some top loaders came with dual patterns so they could be used in cars that had the tall narrow bolt pattern, or the later tall wide bolt...

    Progress Thread '67 Mustang 351C > C4 trans > Clueless 21 year old

ok the first thing you need to do is decide what exactly you want from this car. the next thing is to honestly assess your mechanical skills. regardless of the level you are at now, you can improve them, so dont be concerned, just be completely honest with yourself. for instance when i was your...

1979 pinto bubble window 4 speed in a 67 coupe?

the four cylinder T5 does fine in low power applications behind a V8. but the pinto four speed definitely wont survive behind the V8. besides the bolt patterns are different and you will be spending more money to adapt the trans to the V8 bell, than you would finding and rebuilding a V8 T5.

    1967 Mustang Coupe 5-speed swap

it will last a short period of time. it wasnt designed to handle a lot of torque, not to mention the very low first gear will hamper the issue. you should be able to find a V8 T5 from a 93 or earlier stang and use that instead. it is stronger than what you have now, and they are fairly cheap. i...

Daily driver debate: 65-68 coupe or 62-63 Comet

first, PARAGRAPHS, your post is hard to read. i have a 64 falcon to go along with my 66 mustang, both are neat cars o drive. i also love the comets as well, in fact i almost bought one to restore years ago before i got my falcon. as to swapping a V8 into an early one, there is about the same...

    In need of wisdom/knowledge

a 69 mach 1 is pretty much always worth restoring. even if the rust is so bad that bird droppings are holding it together. as to restoring the car, and perhaps upgrading systems along the way. that will depend on your personal thoughts regarding originality, and what you plan on doing with...

    Questions about putting a 4.6 into a 1966

first thing is you are going to have to cut out the shock towers and replace the front suspension, especially if you are building a 65-66 car. the 67-ups can squeeze the single came 4.6 in the engine bay, its tight like putting in a 390 or 460, but doable. if you want the dual cam 4.6 then you...

    69 front fenders/grill on a 73?

i am not saying that it would only take a little surgery to make them work, far from it. but given the things i have sen people do with body panels from wildly different ars and make them work, i am only saying it can be done. not something i would recommend doing though.

    69 front fenders/grill on a 73?

if you are looking to just bolt on the 69 front end, the answer is no, it wont fit. however, if you are willing to do some(read a whole bunch) of surgery, then you can make the 69 front end fit the 71-73 mustangs.

    Summit doesnt know either!

you are starting at the wrong end there. first thing is to make sure you have no vacuum leaks. next get the initial timing set properly. then get the carb set. doing this first should get you done right.
